Shockingly, watching the People's Choice Awards was not extreme torture... not the whole time, anyways. Kaley Cuoco was a perfectly fine emcee, and her relative lack of fame actually worked when it came to hosting. For those of you who missed the ceremony, here are the highlights and lowlights of what you didn't see.
-A pretty fun Big Bang Theory introduction kicked the show off and featured the cast making fun of how dumb everyone on the Internet is -- luckily, you can watch this one here. This was followed by a joke on CBS' obnoxious studio audience laughter, and several minutes of endearing jokes about Neil Patrick Harris being obsessed with hosting award shows.
-Hundreds of people waving distractingly in the background from the audience whenever the cameras faced them.
-Every winner complaining about the short countdown clock, which resulted in micro-speeches... except for Adam Sandler (picking up an acting award for Jack & Jill) who talked in a "comical" voice and made fun of his old teachers.
-Many, many segments that were designed to be funny and/or informative that were literally just obnoxious ads for People's Choice Award sponsors.
-A delightful pre-taped segment starring Jane Lynch as an official seat-assigner, co-starring Michael Hitchcock. It featured an excellent joke at the expense of Jeremy Piven and a few jabs at Kim Kardashian.
-Hugo's Chloƫ Moretz beating out the Harry Potter kids for Best Star Under 25.
-Lots of teen girls screaming their heads off over Robert Pattinson.
-An unexpected pre-taped Parks and Recreation talent show, wherein I laughed at loud upon hearing Adam Scott's description of his ability to smash a laptop with a hammer: "Uh, I think people want to see it!" Chris Pratt coughed up blood, Rashida Jones grew a beard and I got extremely excited that Parks & Rec comes back tonight.
-The creative talent behind Bridesmaids singing an a cappella rendition of "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips.
-Everyone freaking out over Betty White, who turns 90 next week.
-Beth Behrs and Kat Dennings acting like adorable best friends.
-The completely coincidental fact that every CBS comedy won an award for something.
