ReModeled: This Show Sure Looks Familiar

Sitting through the 45-minute pilot episode of ReModeled (The CW's latest attempt at reality TV) was, in a word, excruciating. I care about the modeling world as much as the next moderate Project Runway or America's Next Top Model fan (so, "kind of"), but as far as the world of modeling agencies are concerned, unless they're helmed by Janice Dickinson, I couldn't find them less interesting. Not only does this series give an inside look at the wild world of those agencies; it also tries to be these current shows, too, and fails miserably in the end.

Kitchen Nightmares/Tabatha Takes Over
Really, in case ReModeled isn't poorly-structured and convoluted enough as it is about the modeling business, the show includes the element patented by Ramsay and duplicated by Tabatha, wherein "modeling expert" Paul Fisher attempts to revive failing agencies... that he partly owns? Or at least holds stock in? I barely understand what The Network is, and after watching the pilot, I have absolutely no desire to.

Portlandia
This series is so disjointed and confusing that it honestly feels more like a sketch comedy than a docu-reality. The people who work for Fisher are such scripted characters (especially Joseph, but I'll get to him) that ReModeled feels like a parody of itself. Fisher awkwardly telling Joseph to make sure the car was warm for him was so lame and weird.

Parks and Recreation
Joseph is literally the reality TV version of Aubrey Plaza's April Ludgate. Sure, the kid (clearly I watched this show for too long when I start calling everyone "kid") is so bleak in his attitude, I'm shocked Ron Swanson didn't nab him first. As far as personality goes, though, I guess he's more Oren than April.

Top Chef
While I'm on the note of doppelgangers, Fisher is a poor non-foodie's version of Tom Colicchio, only less likable and more obsessed with his own image. My question for Fisher: If you're so successful, why are you on The CW?
