On to the Grammys...
In case you missed it: Congratulations, I guess, to the casts and crews of both Boardwalk Empire and Modern Family for their many SAG awards. The HBO drama picked up its second consecutive trophy for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, while Modern Family won for the comedy ensemble. In case you missed it, here were the best and worst moments and fashion highlights.
Carnival Films and ITV announced that Shirley MacLaine will join the cast of Downton Abbey for Season 3. She will play Martha Levinson, mother of American-born Lady Grantham.
Fox will be running a marathon of every episode of The Simpsons, starting with its pilot episode on February 8 until the celebration of the 500th episode on February 18, with hopes setting a new Guinness World Record for longest continuous television viewing. Unfortunately, this is a personal fan event and won't actually be airing on any Fox network... d'oh.
Also in Simpsons news, the show has signed on Julian Assange of WikiLeaks fame (or defame, depending on how you look at it) to play himself for the milestone episode.
CBS gave the OK to start filming a comedy project written by Louis CK and Spike Feresten that has been in the making for a better part of 13 years. The show follows an ensemble of young people trying to achieve their creative dreams in these tough financial times. How awesome would it be if Bob Saget starred?
The USA Network announced a new project to its lineup this morning called Political Animals, which will air this summer. The six-hour special will follow a fictional former first family's life after the White House.
After 31 long years apart, Chrissy and Janet will finally be reunited in a Three's Company reunion during an episode of Suzanne Somer's CafeMom.com digital talk show. Let's hope this reunion doesn't make me cry like a baby like Oprah's The Sound of Music one did.
Spike TV is reviving former Fox "favorite" World's Wildest Police Videos. The show, which highlights hilarious-yet-jaw-dropping police chases, has been set to film 13 new episodes. Spike also has picked up three new original unscripted series, entitled Full Bounty, Tattoo Nightmares and Rat Bastards to be aired around the same time. I've never known Spike TV to be anything but too classy.
Although not formally announced, teen heart-throb Justin Bieber may be making an appearance to guest host and perform on Saturday Night Live. Really?
After covering the death of Welcome Back Kotter's Robert Hegyes on Friday, we are sad to report that Ian Abercrombie of Seinfeld fame has passed away this morning at age 77. The actor suffered serious kidney failure. We'll miss ya, Mr. Pitt.
