A photo of The X Factor crew in happier times...
There are going to be a lot of new faces when The X Factor returns for its second season. Emphasis on a lot. The exodus began yesterday with the announcement that Steve Jones wouldn't be returning as the host of Simon Cowell's post-American Idol second act. Widely disliked judge Nicole Scherzinger followed him out the door not long after, but the real surprise came when word leaked out that Paula Abdul was also cut. So that leaves Cowell and L.A. Reid as the last men standing. If we were Fox, we'd put an offer out to Abdul's old dance partner, MC Skat Kat. You know he wouldn't pull any punches when it comes to judging others.
Speaking of exits, not ready for prime time player Paul Brittain has abruptly departed Saturday Night Live effective immediately. Guess that means we shouldn't expect to see Ron Paul at any other fake GOP presidential debates.
Although it didn't rack up Boardwalk Empire-like numbers, HBO has already picked up the behind-the-racetrack drama Luck for a sophomore year. Guess that means David Milch and Michael Mann will have another season to try and improve their reportedly tense relationship.
Will Judy Greer's status as showkiller end her solo series before it even starts? ABC's gonna find out now that they've ordered up a pilot episode of American Judy, in which Greer plays a "cosmopolitan woman" who trades in city life for a house in the suburbs populated with her new hubby and his kids. So it's like Suburgatory meets Green Acres minus the farm animals. Got it.
Oscar winner Susan Sarandon will have a multi-episode guest star stint on Season 3 of the Showtime series The Big C as a cancer survivor that befriends Laura Linney. Maybe they can enjoy a girls' night out at a late night Rocky Horror Picture Show screening. Just kidding -- everyone knows that Sarandon will kill you with a glance if you dare mention the words "Rocky Horror" or "Time Warp."
