I can't tell if this is tasteful or tasteless. Either way, I guess E! is going to hit the ratings jackpot.
The network announced that it will have live coverage of Whitney Houston's funeral at 11:30 AM on Saturday. The special is titled E! News Special Report, Whitney Houston: The Funeral and will be hosted by Ken Baker, Jason Kennedy and Marc Malkin.
In lighter "good" news, Friends star Matthew Perry is joining the cast of CBS' series The Good Wife for a recurring role as a Chicago attorney named Mike who is secretly trying to win over Alicia. You know, Julianna Margulies is pretty, a great actress, and man do I love the show, but she'll never be Monica in my heart.
NBC's talent competition The Voice has announced it will be returning for its third season in the fall. All four judges will be back as well, with substantial pay raises. Pay them however much they want -- TV is just an all around better place when you can look at look at Blake Shelton and Adam Levine that much more.
The Muppets may not be performing during the Oscars (they got overshadowed by Cirque du Soleil... what the hell man!?), but damned if they won't show up! Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog will join presenters Emma Stone, Angelina Jolie and Ben Stiller as presenters. I really hope Joan Rivers doesn't rip Miss Piggy a new one; she's just always dressed so fierce.
Sons Of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter blogged that the show's upcoming fifth year has "New characters loosely defined." Reports aren't confirmed, but the show is supposedly set to have four new characters for four times more awesomeness.
Colin Ferguson, six year veteran of the Syfy original Eureka, will play the lead role in Bill Lawrence's Fox pilot Like Father. Ferguson will play the father Van Lyons, nicknamed "The Hurricane".
And finally, in more news about the new pilot I like to call Will & Grace 2.0, Ugly Betty star Michael Urie has landed one of the male leads in Partners from creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick opposite Sophia Bush. Urie will play a gay man with a straight best friend who feed off each other to find love. Where have we heard this before?
