BLOGS
It's the time of year when networks start deciding which shows will get the axe and which ones will live for at least another season. While there are a host of shows in danger of getting cancelled, there are only a few that we'd actually like to see get a reprieve. Here's our wish-list, and don't worry, Terra Nova isn't on here... we've mostly forgotten that show ever existed.
10. Pan Am
It's unlikely, but we'd be thrilled to see more of our favorite French flight attendant, Colette in her adorable little uniform. She's just so damned charming. Ideally, Season 2 would be all about her.
9. 90210
Now that this show has given up any pretense of school, it is just ridiculously preposterous. And we mean that in the best way possible. It's silly and forgets the plot from one week to the next and repeats itself endlessly, but it's also soapy and filled with attractive people doing dumb things. Sometimes we just need inane fluff in our lives, especially compared to something like Ringer, which aims for serious and dark and fails quite often.
8. A Gifted Man
House is going off the air this season and we may lose TV's other pompous genius doctor, too? A Gifted Man has gotten a lot better since its cloying pilot and we love getting our weekly dose of Patrick Wilson and Margo Martindale. Also, Rachelle Lefevre isn't completely grating on this show, which is really saying something.
7. Fringe
This hasn't been the show's best season, but it's still better than a lot of the dull procedurals out there. And if we had to pick between this and Nikita (another bubble show), we'd pick Fringe every time for a million reasons, not least of which is Pacey trumps Ted Mosby's daughter any day of the week.
6. Hart of Dixie
This has totally become our guilty pleasure even with all of the stupid town holidays, terrible Southern accents and rom-com clichés. We're hooked on this implausible melodrama like some other people are on One Tree Hill. We're not proud.
5. Alcatraz
It falls into the procedural category, which isn't typically our preferred format, but the sci-fi elements and underlying mythology keep us watching. Between that and the Lost references, we'd like to see more of what this crime show has to offer.
4. Parenthood
The Bravermans are certainly a unique brood and while we have our qualms with them on an individual basis, as a whole this family drama is a must-see. Although they wrapped things up nicely for the season with a finale that could serve as a series-ender, we'd still like to get answers to some of the lingering questions. (For starters, we wonder if it'll be Kristina or Haddie that kills Adam for throwing away their financial security just because Crosby is a giant child.)
3. Cougar Town
We missed this show so much and the few episodes that have aired since its return have made us laugh with delight. We'd like to see even more of the cul-de-sac crew next season, mostly to find out what silly game Bobby invents next. Oh, and to see if they finally do change that title.
2. Smash
The show seems to be having a hard time finding an audience and while we can't say we're entirely surprised (a series about the making of a Marilyn Monroe musical is a challenging sell), the seris has quite a bit of potential... if given the time to figure everything out.
1. Community
Because the (arguably) funniest show on television should not be canceled. Period.
