Buh-bye Gilly, you sick freak.
Apparently, there's a major Not Ready For Prime Time Player shake-up brewing over at Saturday Night Live. Rumor has it that Kristen Wiig, Andy Samberg and Jason Sudeikis are exiting the sketch comedy series at the end of this season. Really, the clock on Wiig's time at 30 Rock started ticking as soon as Bridesmaids hit supernova status at the box office, but the departure of Samberg and Sudeikis is a bit more of a surprise... especially since it means the show will be down a Rick Santorum and a Mitt Romney when it returns in the fall with election season in full swing. At least this does give Samberg and Justin Timberlake a month to plan the perfect finale to their Dick in a Box saga. And here's hoping that Wiig and Sudeikis revive the Two A-holes one more time before they depart. We miss those assholes.
Frasier veteran Peri Gilpin has booked a multi-episode arc on CSI as Ted Danson's onscreen wife. We may be showing our age here, but there's just something weird about the thought of Frasier Crane's radio show producer being married to his old barkeep (and occasional romantic rival) Sam Malone. We'll really lose it if Shelley Long turns up as Danson's sister.
As if the ratings weren't indication enough, NBC's Bent almost definitely won't see another season now that star David Walton jumped networks to star in a CBS comedy pilot about a serial dater who realizes he's in love with his best friend. Here's the catch: Not only are they business partners, she's also engaged to someone else. Clearly, Walton just needs to fall for more available women.
When The Real Housewives of New York returns to Bravo on June 4, it'll include three new housewives for us to love/hate. The fresh faces are Aviva Drescher (cousin of Fran), award-winning journalist Carole Radziwill and stylist and businesswoman Heather Thomson.
Finally, the long-running CW primetime soap One Tree Hill (How long-running is it? When it premiered, The CW was still called The WB) signed off for good last night and fans actually took notice. The finale drew high ratings (high for The CW anyway) and now Sophia Bush and the rest of the show's ancient cast can start collecting retirement checks. Wait, you mean their not actually retirement age yet? Uh oh... they're screwed.
