Dragon eggs for all!
Game of Thrones: The Complete First Season Collector's Edition
Sure, the first season of Game of Thrones was already released on DVD earlier this year in advance of its sophomore year. But that edition didn't come with the one thing that practically every aspiring Westeros resident would want: your very own dragon egg. Okay, so technically it's just a collectible paperweight and doesn't actually house a fire-breathing lizard, but still... it's a freakin' dragon egg! And if that doesn't tempt you to get on board HBO's best dramatic series, then clearly nothing will. Which is a real shame, because you're missing out on a show that offers a terrific mixture of spectacle and good old-fashioned storytelling (not to mention one of the strongest ensemble casts around) week in and week out. And when these 10 episodes are over, you'll be ready to dive into Season 2 when that hits DVD in early 2013, followed by the premiere of Season 3 on March 31.
Extras: All of the bonus features -- which include seven commentary tracks, a detailed guide to Westeros and making-of featurettes -- previously appeared on the previous edition. Besides the collectible dragon's egg, the most notable new extra here is a bonus disc containing the first episode of Season 2.

Transformers: Prime -- The Complete Second Season
Dragons: Riders of Berk
The Transformers franchise has been through a number of animated incarnations over the years, but its current, CG-version, Transformers: Prime, which airs on The Hub, draws a big chunk of its inspiration from the Michael Bay movie series. Like the films, this series (which was launched by screenwriters Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman, who also penned the first two Transformers films) takes place on Earth, where the Autobots have allied themselves with the American military in their ongoing battle against the Decepticons. Two of the major story arcs in Season 2 concern the virtuous Autobot leader Optimus Prime's bout with amnesia and a competition between both sides to locate and recover various relics from their home planet, Cybertron. Taking a page from other DreamWorks Animated films-turned-TV series like Kung Fu Panda and Madagascar, the Cartoon Network show Dragons: Riders of Berk is a small-screen outlet for the How to Train Your Dragon franchise until the second film arrives in theaters in 2014. Much of the vocal cast (including stars Jay Baruchel and America Ferrera) reprises their roles for the show, which follows the disagreements that can arise when human and dragons attempt to co-exist. This DVD contains only four episodes from the show's currently-airing first season, so expect a bigger set with all 20 episodes when the sequel's release date draws closer.
Extras: Transformers: Prime includes an interview with the voice of Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen, taped at this year's Comic-Con and a conversation with the behind-the-scenes creative team. Dragons comes with a featurette taking viewers behind-the-scenes of the live How to Train Your Dragon stage show.
Also on DVD:
The Charlie Brown and Snoopy Show: The Complete Series brought the wonderful world of Peanuts to Saturday morning television from 1983 to 1986. Speaking of '80s nostalgia, Diff'rent Strokes: The Complete Fourth Season is now available if you're still feeling the absence of Gary Coleman from the pop culture landscape. And finally,
Doctor Who: Limited Edition Gift Set contains Seasons 1-6 of the rebooted Doctor Who (Eccleston through Smith) in a single box set complete with a Sonic Screwdriver.
