Jeff and the Dean celebrate Community's (modest) ratings triumph.
Although we weren't wowed by Community's Season 4 premiere, the show's fans were clearly glad to have the Greendale gang back in their lives. The episode scored Community's highest-ratings since March 2012, attracting 4 million viewers. If those numbers hold up, maybe #sixseasonsandamovie is a possibility after all... or at least the #sixseasons part.
The ratings news was worse -- much worse -- for NBC's Do No Harm, which followed up its low-rated series premiere with a second episode that posted even lower ratings, going from 3.3 million to 2.18 million. And the cancellation clock starts ticking... a week ago.
Christina Applegate is leaving Up All Night, noting, "The show has taken a different creative direction and I decided it was best for me to move on to other endeavors." Which, yikes. NBC is eye Lisa Kudrow to take her place, though we suggest putting the show out of its misery, already.
Lost mastermind Damon Lindelof has set up shop over at HBO, which has picked up his adaptation of the Tom Perrotta Rapture-themed novel, The Leftovers. Maybe having an ending already in place will save the series finale from being an epic letdown.
After five seasons, the BBC has cancelled the British version of Being Human. Now the writers of the American reboot will just have to come up with their own ideas.Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan will make sure the show ends on his terms by writing and directing the series finale. This will be the first episode Gilligan has helmed since the amazing final two installments of Season 4. So... no pressure or anything, Vince.
Finally, the ubiquitous David Walton gets a permanent job, nabbing the lead role on NBC's About a Boy pilot overseen by Friday Night Lights/Parenthood wunderkind Jason Katims. For his sake, here's hoping it lasts longer than Bent.
