Switched at Birth: The Best Moments of the All ASL Episode

To paraphrase myself, Switched at Birth is highly underrated, both because of its overarching subject matter -- Deaf culture -- and its bare-bones teen drama. Not only am I glad the series chose to make "Uprising" entirely in American Sign Language because of how radical of an idea that is, but also since this births the possibility that other people will start watching the show, and I'll finally have someone to talk to about how Emmett is way too good for Bay, or how weird it is that Daphne had an affair with the same guy evil Buffy shtupped in Ringer. Until then, here are the highlights of the episode:

Switched at Birth: For ABC Family Viewers Who Find Secret Life Too Edgy

7th Heaven fans, rejoice: ABC Family has a similarly sappy family drama to fill the Camden-sized hole in your lives. Full disclosure: this type of show is the complete opposite of my cup of tea. But if you are looking for something more PG than The Secret Life of the American Teenager and if you don't mind contrived story lines, with every conflict being resolved by someone saying, "we're a family, we love each other no matter what," then Switched At Birth may be for you. I know I'm going to sound like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas here, but this stuff just doesn't make my heart grow three sizes.

The madness will not end until every single reality series does an all-star season.

American Horror Story: This Week’s Freakiest and Funniest Moments

Hmm... are we positive that wasn't American Horror Story's season finale? Because last night's Tim Minear-scripted episode, "Birth," seemed to wrap up some of the show's more significant ongoing storylines. And yet there is another installment to go ("Afterbirth," natch). Sure you don't want to save some of that material for your sophomore year, Brad and Ryan?

TWoP 10: Best New Scripted Shows of This Summer

We could go on for days about our love of Dance Moms, or about how much we've enjoyed this sexed-up season of True Blood, but we expect to be entertained by reality TV trash and our favorite returning shows . What really surprised us this summer was just how many new scripted programs kept us genuinely enthralled -- a pleasant change from the years when all we had to watch in between trips to the pool and barbecues was the likes of Swingtown. And bonus points to ABC Family for really upping their game as a network in recent months. Here's what made it a summer to remember:
