I don't know if you've been watching this season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but something really interesting has been happening: The entire cast acknowledges that they're on a reality show and are now regularly featured in tabloids. They argue about how some of them are media (prostitution) whores and gossip about how much they've changed now that they're in the spotlight. It's really great television and I still don't understand why MTV hasn't done the same with Jersey Shore.
Apparently, MTV is in lock-down crisis-mode thanks to unconfirmed reports that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is three months pregnant. We're not sure why the network is freaking out -- this is clearly an excellent career move for Snooki, and the perfect opportunity for a Jersey Shore spin-off we'd actually watch (even with Jionni). To help MTV see things our way, we're compiled a list of potential show names/ideas for the (supposedly) expecting Jersey girl:
It's a bad week to be getting married, or even just be engaged.
Just one day after it was announced that American Idol would bring on Harry Connick Jr. (and bring back Jennifer Lopez) as a judge, Dancing with the Stars one-upped them with the reveal of what is, quite possibly, their best cast yet.
Since we don't know who was specifically responsible for that nightmarish Top Chef finale, they are spared. The rest of these people were not so lucky.
Can we hook this week's winner up with Manti Te'o?
Does reality TV need another hero? The Rock thinks so.
And on the seventh day, Snooki gave birth.
We might need to wash our ears out with soap.
Thank goodness for our returning shows, because otherwise this would have been a tough TV summer. While Teen Wolf, Suits, True Blood and Breaking Bad have all delivered week after week, most of the new programming of the last few months has left a lot to be desired. Breaking Pointe was fun and we're oddly obsessed with the surreal Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, but too many other freshman series were underwhelming at best. Here's what let us down the most:
