"And the Candy Manwich" was hands down one of the best episodes of 2 Broke Girls ever. Sure, it doesn't hurt that I love Ryan Hansen (having both Veronica Mars and Party Down on your resume basically makes you TV royalty), but the jokes about Candy Andy were actually pretty funny, Max's one-liners were more hilarious than gross (with a few exceptions below), vulnerable Caroline was totally endearing and rather than go the obvious female-competition-between-two-friends route, the show instead opted to make some pretty good masturbation jokes -- both male and female -- and was able to normalize the deed without shaming anyone... and we didn't even have to hear about Oleg touching himself at all! Amazing. I look forward to seeing more of Candy Andy, and hopefully less moments like these:
Fans of Louis C.K. and his FX sitcom can understand why I can't recommend the series enough; Louie is great. To promote tonight's Season 3 premiere, Louis C.K. took a press call yesterday to answer a few questions about what we'll see in coming episodes. To spare you spoilers and a lot of the same queries about why the character who plays Louie's ex-wife is African American -- hint: it's because she's a talented actress -- I've pulled out the interview highlights, which are entirely free of dick jokes (unfortunately).
Like almost every kid that came of age in the late '80s/early '90s, I went through a big Weird Al phase. Back then, there were still these things called cassette tapes and I soon amassed a healthy collection of Yankovic's albums. Favorite songs? "Eat It" of course. "The Rye or the Kaiser" was another (especially since it spoofed a song from one of the greatest sequels of all time, Rocky III) and you can't forget about "(This Song's Just) Six Words Long," "I Think I'm A Clone Now" and "Yoda."
If I had it my way, every single episode of Parks and Recreation would be wonderful, and we could spend Friday mornings going over funny lines and cracking up at all of the crazy shenanigans witnessed in Pawnee -- that's what happens most of the time, and what I expected to happen with the return of Louis C.K. as Officer Dave. Like most people who go on the Internet, I love basically everything about C.K. (and can vouch that Live at the Beacon Theater is well-worth the $5), but Dave just didn't do it for me, nor did "Dave Returns" as an episode.
Last night's "Door to Door" was problematic in a lot of ways, not least of which was the introduction of David Cross's recurring character, Duane the city councilman. There are a few reasons we're worried about Duane's role on the show, as seen by last night's issues (though, it needs to be said, we absolutely agreed with him: ice cream cake is not the same thing as regular cake). Here's why we're apprehensive:
Werewolves and rednecks and misfits, oh my! Also: space thieves, performance art, Big Bads, Mark Wahlberg and other scary things.
As long as Joss Whedon TV series are getting unceremoniously canceled (so, forever), there will always be comic book sequels to supply a much-needed fix. And while we're sure a Dollhouse comic will be a necessity in the future, in the meantime, you can enjoy more Dr. Horrible. Plus, what movie star is Jack Donaghy making out with now?
Stars on TV is the name of the game, as one movie star is going to Fox, two are going to ABC, and one (along with two infamous housewives) is coming to NBC. Michelle Obama, meanwhile, is going on Iron Chef. Keep her safe, Mark Dacascos. Keep her safe.
It seems like the entire cast of Battlestar Galactica has guest-starred on one show or another, so when we heard that Naveen Andrews -- who plays Sayid Jarrah on Lost -- would be making a guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU in January, we were psyched. After all, the Losties don't do a lot of guest spots, what with filming in Hawaii and all, and we're still not sure exactly when in 2010 Lost's final season will premiere, so we'll be happy to see Andrews on TV a little early. Unfortunately, since we don't know what role he'll be playing, we're just imagining Sayid talking to Benson and Stabler, which totally works for us. Since we miss all of the other Lost cast members equally once the show signs off, we came up with a list of shows we'd love to see their characters guest-star on. Why should BSG have all the fun?
