For one thing, part of what makes the original Kath & Kim hilarious are the nearly unintelligible Australian accents and crazy slang. And then there's the whole issue of subtle humor. It seems hard to fathom that the same audiences who gobble up shows like A Shot At Love With Tila Tequila without a trace of irony would be able to distinguish the artful camp that Kath & Kim embodies from the cavalcade of human beings whose humorously shallow, vulgar and self-involved lives are documented on any number of reality TV shows. Will the channel-surfing denizens of our fair nation "get" Kath & Kim? And more to the point, is this version even worth getting?
