With Fringe's recent reveal that newly weaponized Peter Bishop will determine who wins the impending war between universes solely by choosing an Olivia to be with (it's a lot less stupid than that, but we're paraphrasing for brevity's sake), it seems to us that Peter shares some commonalities with another TV icon: the Bachelor. And since choosing an Olivia makes the foundation for the most dramatic inter-universe rose ceremony ever, we thought we'd run down each girl's pros and cons to help the guy decide.
Charlotte Rae, Mrs. Edna Garrett herself, made a surprise cameo last week on ABC Family's Pretty Little Liars, which makes perfect sense when you think about it. After all, don't Eastland's goody two shows and Rosewood's little vixens have a lot of common? Sure, they come from different economic backgrounds, but both groups of girls know what it's like to feel that the world never seems to be living up to your dreams. And despite their scheming, the Liars do have good intentions while Edna's gang have juicy little secrets of their own. In fact, the closer we looked, the more we realized how similar the characters were.
The League's second season begins tonight, and although it's on a popular cable network (FX) and is by far one of the funniest shows on television, I keep having a hard time finding people who've seen it. Maybe it wasn't advertised enough, maybe it looks too sports-nerdy or something, but whatever the reason, many people aren't watching this show even though they should. Here are the main reasons why it's worth your time. Other than the fact that it's, you know, hilarious.
The 9 Most Brilliant Jersey Shore Season 2 Quotes (So Far)
The MTV Movie Awards were a horror show of blatant corporate shills, awkward new stars shying away from the spotlight and sad, fading ones desperately grasping for it (J.Lo and Xtina -- you poor girls), but brush all that human tragedy aside and you get the real prize: the first ten minutes of Jersey Shore Season 2! Now, please, stop pretending you hate Jersey Shore. No one believes you. With that said, let's review the cast's finest quotes and hope they didn't blow all the good stuff on the preview.
If you're a fan of Ricky Gervais, either because of his witty stand-up routines or the original (and superior) Office or the clever, cameo-ridden Extras, then you are probably chomping at the bit for any new material he produces (aside from some of his misguided movies --can we just pretend that The Invention of Lying never happened?). The folks at HBO know about his rabid fans (and I'm one of them, too) and wisely greenlit this new show as part of their attempt to expand their Friday night lineup. However, the simply titled The Ricky Gervais Show isn't exactly offering up any new or ground-breaking material. In fact, it's just his legendary podcasts (which made the Guinness Book of World Records for being the most downloaded podcasts ever) in animated form. But while you might be inclined to write them off if you've already heard them, as I initially was, I found them totally worth watching.
I was very excited when it was announced that Heather Locklear was returning to her Melrose Place roots as the bitch-in-heels Amanda Woodward. This new series, while oddly watchable, needed a jolt of something to really get it going. Since she'd saved the previous incarnation from dullness/cancellation, it seemed fitting that she'd boost this version as well. But now that we've actually seen her first episode, I'm not sure her appearance is helping matters much.
As if I didn't already have high enough hopes for Season 8, the news that 24 is bringing back disgraced president Charles Logan is very good news indeed. He's one of my favorite villains and it got me thinking about the few established characters still alive in the 24-verse that I'd also love to see back, and the ones I'd rather have choke on the Cordilla Virus somewhere off-screen.
On the surface, these two teen dramas created/produced by Kevin Williamson seem to have little in common. One is about a wholesome group of kids growing up in a harbor community in the Northeast and dealing with their normal, non-supernatural, everyday issues. The other is about a few blood-sucking vampires who have tormented a small Virginia town for centuries. However, when we put the two shows side by side, we quickly realized that they have a lot more in common than one might initially think.
If you're a member of PETA, you may not want to watch the following videos. They contain the brutal murder of one of nature's most beautiful and misunderstood creatures: the common housefly. Apparently, PETA is not happy that President Obama killed a fly during an interview on CNBC (seriously?), but we couldn't be happier, because Late Night with Jimmy Fallon digitally inserted the president into the famous fly-catching scene from The Karate Kid, and it's the funniest thing we've seen in the past several hours. Here's the original footage, as seen on the Today Show:
Tonight's episode of Burn Notice features a guest appearance by Terminator: Salvation star Moon Bloodgood as a police detective, and she's only the latest in a long string of spies, killers, cons and lawmen who have come through Miami with a bone to pick with Michael Westen. It's only going to get worse from here on out, what with Michael losing his protection and all, so we thought we'd run down some of our favorites, specifically those that we already knew and loved from other TV shows. This list will self-destruct.
