So You Think You Can Dance: Now With More Adam Shankman

While I still have mixed feelings about last week's announcement that Ellen DeGeneres was going to be the fourth judge on American Idol, I have no such qualms about Adam Shankman being given a permanent seat next to Mary Murphy on So You Think You Can Dance. None whatsoever. Though I do fear for his eardrums. Maybe I should send him some earplugs as a congratulatory gift? Just to be safe?

Anyway, I adore Adam Shankman. In fact, I was practically squeeing with delight when I read the news. I follow his Twitter, and when he's a panelist on the show, I feel that he offers some actual dance critiques and is very honest and open. He actually knows what he's talking about, too; he's a dancer and a choreographer and knows about star power -- all important things when judging this show. My only (slight) complaint is that he does have a tendency to go on a little bit, so he'll need to focus on being more succinct.

To-the-point commentary will especially be a factor if they use a rotating fourth judge; the info that has trickled out hasn't clearly stated what they'll be doing about that fact. I mean, I love Adam, and he's by far one of my favorite judges on the show, but if this means no more nutty commentary and made up words from Mia Michaels, or awesome critiques from Debbie Allen, or random bucc blatherings filled with 10-cent words from Lil' C, I'll be a little bit sad. I could live without ever hearing another word that comes out of Tyce Diorio's mouth though. Just saying.
