HBO Is Getting Red Hot With Chili Peppers Front Man

In news I never thought I'd hear but am irrationally excited about, Red Hot Chili Pepper's lead singer Anthony Kiedis is developing a series with HBO. It will be about his rock and roll childhood and misspent youth. Casting's going to be a bitch, but I bet it will be awesome. I have read a lot about Keidis (during my own mildly misspent youth), and based on my knowledge, it is likely to be a wild ride. Too bad that the title Californication is already being used.

Kiedis's melodic voice will possibly be narrating it, so it will be just like Everybody Hates Chris, except less funny, and with lots more drugs, and about West Hollywood instead of a New York borough. But just like it. Variety does say that while the project does use the name Scar Tissue, it won't necessarily be based on Kiedis' recent autobiography... because that's more about his adult life and rock career.

Who knows when this will actually go into production? Since they are just shopping around for a writer now and there is a whole lot of subject matter here to tackle, it might be a while. And I worry that this might not have a huge appeal outside of the diehard RHCP junkies like myself.

Thoughts? Genius, or bad idea?
