Another week, another eliminated idol. This time though it was Alexis Grace, who the judges supposedly had pegged for the final four. Guess that didn't work out. Or they decided not to save her to make it so that people wouldn't think the whole show is rigged. Whatever. The little blonde girl with the pink highlights and the way too tiny outfits got sent packing... after the judges meanly told her they were considering saving her, and after Randy called her by the wrong name. Oh, good times. Below are the highlights of
Allison's Alexis' press conference call.
On her next step:
I'm going to go back home and spend some time with my family first. And then I'm going to get to work and start talking about recording some music and trying to get it out there and just continue singing.
On considering a different song on country night:
I had a couple [choices], but I did consider doing a Carrie Underwood song, but there were already two other people who sang Carrie Underwood, so I felt that it would be too much Carrie Underwood in one night. So then I went with "Jolene" because that was a really beautiful song. I loved the lyrics. I like the singer and so I thought it was a good song for me to do.
Changing up "Jolene" for the judges:
I just went up there and sang what I was feeling. It wasn't like I was trying to be anything or do anything a certain way. I just wanted to show them that I wanted to stay.
On picking from other songs for the judges save:
I'm going to be honest. I think if I sang the first song that I sang, "Never Let Them In," that maybe I would still be there. I don't know. I think that "Jolene" is a beautiful song and I love to sing it. I don't think it was their favorite performance, so I really didn't get to really show them and remind them again why they picked me or why America picked me. I probably would have chosen a different song if I could.
The contestants' take on the new twist:
We actually think it's a good idea. In years past... Chris Daughtry and all the rest of the people who we thought could have gotten through far that didn't -- it's there to help people who need a second chance.
On knowing they were thinking about saving her:
I liked the fact that they told me that they were thinking about saving me because they let me know that they actually believe in me and that they think that I can do it.
Was it flattering? Or did it make it worse?
It was flattering. I was really happy. I just wish that I could have done a better job than I did. But in all honestly, I don't know if they still would have chosen me, just because it's so early in the game. I feel like they would probably want to use the save for later on in the show.
Who she was closest to in the Top 13:
I would definitely say Megan and Matt. Well, for one thing, he cracks me up. He's like hilarious. He's always making jokes and doing riffs and runs all the time. We just have a good time together and then Megan because we're pretty much like the same. We both have kids the same age. She has a boy, I have a girl. We always joked about how on tour, our son or daughter would be boyfriend and girlfriend.
If the Randy name mess-up was disconcerting:
Yes, a little bit, but I think maybe that's just because that's just his personality maybe. Maybe not because I'm forgettable, hopefully not, but yes, I did make a face when he said Allison. I was like hmmm, he means Alexis.
Did you have an inkling that something might be up when Ryan singled out you and Michael Sarver for questioning in the beginning?
I knew before we even got there. I knew the night of the show that I would be in the bottom three. I just knew it, got a feeling from what the judges said and just the way the night went, I just had a feeling.
On being outnumbered and trying hard to prove the women were just as good:
Yes, of course, you do if there's only four girls and however many guys. It's just, you really have to do your part and show those little girls out there who are voting for all the boys that, hey, we're still here, too. But it was fun, I loved the girls and all the guys and I had a great time while I was there.
