During a phone press conference last Thursday, Jane Lynch (that's Sue Sylvester to you!) spoke with reporters about Glee and her hopes for its future. The Golden Globe nominee for Best Supporting Actress told reporters that her role is helpful to her emotional well-being, "I always say, 'When I put on that track suit I have a license to say anything I want. I think it's probably very good therapy."
Her involvement with Glee (which just got renewed for a second season!) has proven to be more than just therapy for the actress. Lynch revealed that she is interested in involving herself behind the scenes, hoping to eventually direct an episode of the show: "I haven't spoken to anybody about it, but I love directing and I love calling the shots. I think Glee would be a great place to do it."
Fans of the show are excited about the upcoming all-Madonna episode, especially with the recent leak of the possible set list. While she couldn't give away any spoilers, Lynch divulged: "I've recorded already and I've had several dance rehearsals, it's going to be fun." She admitted that singing was "kind of a dream come true" but warned, "It's not as easy as one thinks, you have to be right on pitch-wise and you have to be right on time-wise, and I always thought I was very good at those things, but according to Adam [Anders, musical producer of Glee], I am not. He had to direct me several times." The most difficult part for Lynch was dancing, describing it as "the thing that I have to work ten times harder than everybody else."
Glee started taping again last week. Lynch described the cast as "flushed with victory from the People's Choice Awards," as Glee won Best Show at the ceremony. But Lynch is no longer a stranger to awards shows. She is now prepping for the Golden Globes: "The hardest part so far has been the anxiety around the dress and I found a dress almost immediately. I went to a designer and he had one on the mannequin that I ended up choosing, so right now it's just relaxing and knowing that I'm going to have a good time." She declared, "I will not be wearing a track suit."
