Recently in Hollywood To TWoP: Hello There! Category
Can I gush for a moment about how much I love Community? The writing is tight, the cast is hilarious and the references to pop culture are outstanding. One of the show's top scene-stealers, Danny Pudi, recently took a media call to promote the show as well as a few new Abed-centric webisodes titled "The Spanish Video Assignment." While the shorts are fun and goofy, they're mostly disappointing; but if you're a die-hard Senor Chang or Star-Burns fan (and Lord knows there are many of us), give 'em a look. Below are some highlights from the Q&A with Pudi, who is possibly the world's sweetest actor.
Along with interviewing other Bravolebrities, TWoP was able to ask some of those crazy Real Housewives about their shows and upcoming seasons. After watching their clips side-by-side, we came to a hilarious conclusion: If you ask any of them anything about their respective cast, they'll give you the same answers as any of the other women from any of the other cities. Take a look; It's hilarious.
We sadly said goodbye to the sole remaining interesting contestant on this season's American Idol last Wednesday when Siobhan Magnus was unceremoniously voted out of the competition. She wore hideous outfits and sometimes took the screeching too far, but you can't deny the girl had talent. At the very least, you can't deny she was amazing television. In an effort to give her a proper send-off, I joined a media call with Siobhan last week to discuss how awesome it feels to be eliminated, all the letters (real letters, apparently -- like from the post office!) she received from young weird girls that she's inspired and how she's apparently this huge Andrew Lloyd Webber-head. She's weird, you guys. God love her.
TWoP recently attended a Bravo Upfront party, filled with all of your favorite "Bravolebrities," which are like celebrities that only discerning TV watchers know about. Some attendees were sweet, some were bitches, and most were pretty freaking drunk. Enjoy a couple of quick interviews below.
Hearts have been broken across America, because hunky sensation Tim Urban has been voted off of American Idol. Granted, the hearts of those who didn't vote for him are probably still intact, but I fear we have only made him more powerful than before, as his path to domination of our airwaves and/or televisions is now clear. For now, we have the results of a conference call he did the day after elimination, where he proved his usual, happy, charming, well-balanced self, no matter how much interviewers tried to get him riled up. Read on as he reacts to the shirtless photo excitement and the possibility of appearing on the Disney Channel or Glee.
Last week we narrowly missed talking to Michael Lynche when the judges' save brought him back from the brink of defeat, but this week has given us an embarrassment of riches: two -- count 'em, two interviews with ejected American Idol contestants! Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia failed to wow 'em in Elvis Presley Week, even with the help of Adam Lambert, so we schlepped down Lonely Street to the Heartbreak Hotel to get in on a press conference with the two singers. Here's what they had to say about the judges' frequent complaints, their early failures and successes and what Mr. Glamberace taught them.
Tonight, Robocop himself, Peter Weller, is guest-starring on Fringe. To promote the hugely geeky stuntcasting event, we hopped on a media conference call with the lovely man to hear all about the episode, how wonderful the cast and crew are, and why he thinks Darren Aronofsky's Robocop movie could suck. Very scientific highlights after the jump.
Somewhere, an American Idol is crying. Actually, they're probably all crying, either due to a frustrating rehearsal, missing their family or something mean Simon Cowell said, but one in particular, Didi Benami, has become known for shedding tears at the drop of a hat. And now that she's been voted off the show after a so-so rendition of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted," she's either weeping tears of joy at the lack of viewer support or tears of happiness for not having to be in any more Ford commercials. Either way, we spoke to her as part of a conference call, and she talked about how Idol is like Los Angeles, why she lived in her car and how she's really not that emotional a person under normal circumstances. Try not to cry too much.
While we never got to know her as well as the others, American Idol contestant Paige Miles was moderately successful with rockin' numbers like "All Right Now," which became more difficult when she developed laryngitis and couldn't really belt them out like she used to. (She's not the first one to come down with it, either.) So while "Honky Tonk Woman" was at least an attempt at being fun and raucous, "Against All Odds" was weak and spotty, and she was voted off just shy of making the Top 10. We sat in on a conference call where she talked about her illness, the song choice process and how to deal with contradictory judges.
The Top 12 became a Top 11 when Lacey Brown was voted off of American Idol last week, and though she's not going to be on the show anymore, she has a surprisingly upbeat attitude about it. I listened in on a post-elimination media call with her last week, and got to hear all about what being voted off feels like, why she chose the songs she did and what Simon says to eliminated contestants before they ship off. Read on for highlights.
