Lock ‘N Load? Don’t Mind If I do!

by Mindy Monez July 21, 2008 11:59 am
Admit it -- wherever you stand on the gun control spectrum, you know you want to know what goes on in gun stores. Who buys guns and why is an interesting thing, and civilians who spend their free time perfecting their marksmanship in a shooting range can certainly be compelling subject matter. And now, thanks to Showtime, you can learn all these things from a bulletproof distance.

The cabler's new half-hour reality series, Lock 'N Load, is set in a Colorado gun store and shooting range, where customers (many of whom are not hunters, which would be boring and more fit for Zach's favorite network, Outdoor Channel) are interviewed as to why they love guns 'n ammo via hidden camera. I'm not sure these are people you want to be playing hidden camera tricks on -- many of them are probably already pretty paranoid as it is, but Showtime has always proven much braver than me.

Now that all the newsy bits are out of the way, I have to say, hell yes! I am so watching this show! Mostly because I have unrealistic expectations from watching far too many action movies, but still. I fully expect everyone in that shooting range to casually shoot a perfect smiley face like Sgt. Riggs, and for weekend warriors to bend bullets like St. Angelina, and for everyone to sit around screaming "They drew first blood! They drew first blood!" Yes, I know these things probably won't happen, but let a gorehound dream.
