Mole had memorable turns in L.A. Story, portraying the mole belonging to a character named SanDeE*, and alongside Sarah Jessica Parker and Nicolas Cage in the classic rom-com Honeymoon in Vegas. Mole really came into its own, though, in the late '90s with the runaway HBO hit Sex and the City, in which it played a non-cancerous accumulation of tissue and pigment possessed by fictional sex columnist and fashion plate Carrie Bradshaw. In 2002, with the with the help of its owner and its owner's husband Matthew Broderick, Mole gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, James Wilkie. Just last month, Mole made a triumphant return to film with the silver screen adaptation of Sex and the City, where it could be viewed at ten times its actual size in all its bumpy-textured splendor.
When Sarah Jessica Parker made an appearance at the Yankee's All-Star Game in New York earlier this week, Mole was noticeably absent. Though the actress has not yet commented on Mole's untimely demise -- presumably she's grieving its death privately -- friends say she made the decision to have it removed. There have been no reports as to what caused Mole's death, but one can assume liquid nitrogen was a factor.
SJP recently announced that she'd be appearing in the forthcoming film A Family Affair, due to begin shooting in the coming months. This will mark her first turn without her dependable skin tag, and there's already some speculation that Mole was, in fact, the real talent behind SJP's formidable acting chops. The world will be watching to see just how it will affect her performance.
