If Smash is NBC's new Friends, is everyone going to start sporting "The Marylin"? I'll be here all week, folks.

Terra Nova and Five More Ridiculous Uses of Time Travel

Terra Nova and Five More Ridiculous Uses of Time Travel

Shows like Doctor Who and Quantum Leap are entirely based on the premise that they send their lead characters all throughout various points in time. Terra Nova isn't jumping all over the place, but instead just sends a handful of people 85 million years back, in some sort of alternate timeline, in order to save a few members of mankind. While they seemingly can't save the folks in our existence who can't see the sun, or breathe on their own or eat oranges or have more than two children without getting arrested, they do have a plan on saving humans as a race by sending them through a portal back 85 million years to create a new society. Or something. We're a little fuzzy on the details.

TWoP 10: TV's Worst Moms

Normally Mother's Day is a time to celebrate television's great moms, like Tammy on Friday Night Lights or Marge Simpson, but where's the fun in that? Instead, we pulled together a list of the bad TV moms who are currently wreaking havoc on their offspring on a regular basis. Happy Mother's Day! Hopefully your mom doesn't suck as hard as these people.

TWoP 10: Characters Who Should Return to Their Shows

TWoP 10: Characters Who Should Return to Their Shows

Most of the time we complain about characters on shows that we just hate with a passion and hope would go far, far away. But occasionally shows could be livened up by the reappearance of an old character (and no we don't necessarily mean the dead ghost ones, Denny). Hence the reason we're pretty psyched that George Clooney finally decided to bring back his hunky Dr. Doug Ross to ER (which is the only acceptable reason for them adding on extra episodes) before the show signs off. So we've compiled another list of characters that need to return to their old posts, stat.

Veronica Mars: Action Hero

Veronica Mars: Action Hero

All right, I may have lured you in under some false pretenses. There will never, ever be Veronica Mars action figures. There are a few busts of Veronica and Logan Echolls, but manufacturing action figures is far too expensive a process for the few thousand they would likely sell. Heroes, on the other hand, is still on the air -- and still pretty popular, despite last season's meanderings -- which means the action figures are coming fast and furious. Hmm... What Veronica Mars cast member is on Heroes now? Let me think...

TWoP 10 Shows That Should Have Spinoffs

TWoP 10 Shows That Should Have Spinoffs

The Office teased us with the idea of a spinoff and then pulled the rug out from under us. We were so hoping it would involve the Intercourse, PA branch and have guest spots with Tobey (speaking of which, did you see that real-life Tobey got married recently? Mazel Tov!) and someone even weirder than Dwight. But alas, we're getting a new show with Amy Poehler from the people who made the U.S. version of The Office that really has nothing to do with The Office. Here's our wish list of shows that should get spinoffs, and some ideas for the writers... in case they're still struggling from writers' strike lag.

Hiro, Meet Villain

Hiro, Meet Villain

Heroes fans still saddened by the death of pixie-ish Eden McCain in Season 1 will rejoice at the addition of a new evil pixie to the cast of Heroes. (No, Kristen Bell and Hayden Panettiere are not pixies, they're vixens. Get it straight.) Brea Grant, who briefly played a love interest on Friday Night Lights, will be joing the cast in Season 3 as a super-fast villain. I would tell you what her name was on FNL, as well as who she dated and why they broke up, but my love for funny sports movies does not extend to overly serious sports TV shows. Sorry.

Journeying, Not Moseying

Journeying, Not Moseying

reeddiamond.jpgNot to crib half of today's blog entries from the headlines over at PopWatch or anything, but Marc Vera wondered today why nobody's watching Journeyman. As the editorial staff's designated "So You Don't Watch Any Sitcoms, But You'll Watch Close To Home" Weirdo, I'd like to address that.

First of all, people do watch Journeyman. I watch it, Sepinwall watches it, Deggans watches it. But this is, perhaps, part of the issue -- because you'll see the common thread there is that we watch TV for a living; so does Marc Vera. But the fact that critics watch a show doesn't necessarily translate into ratings, as we've all seen a hundred times.
