TWoP 10: Burning Questions About Fall 2012 TV

The insanity of Fall TV is in full swing, and while we're busy judging shows as a whole, a lot of the new and returning shows really have us puzzled with some of the unusual choices they are making. We'll likely never get these answers, but we pose the questions that really have us stumped.

Fox Upfront 2012: If All Else Fails, They Still Have Zooey Deschanel

The Fox upfront presentation began with a pre-taped bit about the cast of New Girl interviewing for a new roommate, and their options were Fox stars ranging from Mr. Schue to Walter to the kid from Touch. Oh, and Emily Deschanel, because they couldn't resist making a sister joke. It was cute and the highlight of the network's hour-long presentation, for sure. Most of the rest focused on clips from this season of New Girl, a live awkward bit of banter between Zooey and Mindy Kaling about who is the most adorkable Fox star of them all, and Ryan Seacrest being Ryan Seacresty. They also made a big deal about The X-Factor and officially introduced new judges Demi Lovato and Britney Spears, while making a couple of digs at The Voice. I suppose they had to fill the time somehow, because aside from talking about some new random animation domination HD thing that's going to air in the dead of Saturday night (11 PM-12:30 AM), and referencing baseball as much as they could, there really wasn't a lot of new stuff to show off. But here's what we thought of the new programs they did preview:

TWoP 10: Most Pleasant Surprises of the Season

More often than not, looking back at a TV season just reminds us of all of the ways we were let down, either by disappointing shows or by cancellations of series we enjoyed. But while the 2011-12 season has had its share of setbacks -- like Smash, which had a promising pilot and then immediately went into a downward spiral -- there have also been quite a few unexpected twists that made us happier than we ever imagined.

TWoP 10: TV's Most Entertaining Roommates

The roommate dynamic has been one that has been mined for TV forever (just look at The Odd Couple and Laverne & Shirley), with Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 and Girls adding their own variations to the conceit this week. But which current sets of roomies are the most fun to watch?

TWoP 10: Best Bars Currently on TV

While most of us (of legal drinking age) will gravitate towards our local Irish pubs this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, we'd really prefer to be imbibing cocktails at some of our favorite television watering holes. While years ago, we may have wanted to go to the Boston bar where everybody knows your name, or would've liked to take in some sweet drinks while cruising with Isaac, there are plenty of newer fictional establishments that are calling out to us these days. Man, there are a lot of lushes on TV.

TV Characters You Should Follow on Twitter

It's already time for the mid-season break, which means we won't be seeing most of our favorite characters until January (or, in the case of Community, who knows when...) Fortunately, many of them have learned how to be web savvy in TV land, though and we can follow them on Twitter now! Here are a few worth keeping up with over the holidays.

TWoP 10: Characters Who Most Deserve to Find Love

Coach Beiste found herself a sweet and appropriate beau this week on Glee, and if the unlikely football coach can find a love interest, then there's hope for anyone out there -- just look at Up All Night's Ava and Kenny on Man Up!, who got their own doses of tenderness, too (for now, anyways). We've identified these other lovelorn and lonely TV characters who most seem like they (and their shows) would benefit from a little bit of romance in their lives.

TWoP 10: Best Network Decisions of the Fall

Most of the time, we're up in arms about decisions that TV networks make (particularly when they cancel shows that we love) but this fall, there have been a surprising number good moves on their part -- not including the full-season pickup for the increasingly awful Whitney, of course. Here are the ones we respect the most:
