Here's one more reason to miss ABC's One Life to Live, which airs its last episode today after a nearly 44-year run: they pay attention to TWoP's reviews! On yesterday's penultimate installment, the OLTL writers gave a shout-out to a certain website known as "Movies Without Sympathy," which lambasted David Vickers Buchanan's (played by Tuc Watkins) latest acting effort, entitled The Boy with the Chipmunk Tattoo.
Yesterday there was a luncheon honoring the best in television, as chosen by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association. And while the full event, featuring the speeches and the hosting talents of Cat Deeley, will begin airing on REELZ starting tomorrow night (June 22), we've got all the winners here right now. These first annual awards picked some of the predictable stuff (like Mad Men) but also recognized shows and actors that is usually off the Emmy radar, and two of your loyal TWoP editors got to be part of the nominating and voting process (though admittedly, a few of our favorites still didn't win).
We're thrilled to report that TWoP has been recognized by the 14th Annual Webby Awards, the leading international award for achievement on the Internet, for both our website and our mobile site. Out of nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries, we're proud to have been selected as an official honoree in the Blog - Cultural category. But we're even more excited to be in contention for both a Webby and a People's Voice Award as one of only five nominees in the Mobile Entertainment category. And that's where our readers come in....
If you're a fan of getting our latest snark on your mobile device of choice, please cast a vote for us at the official People's Voice site. Voting closes Thursday, April 29. Vote early, vote often.
In the spirit of the season, TWoP is pleased to offer its readers not one, not two, but three free screensavers to download, all featuring our devilish little mascot himself.
One screensaver covers your monitor in an infinite number of little black, white and yellow Tubeys. Think of it as our version of The Matrix, or of the snow that used to appear on dead TV channels.
Download PC Version | Download Mac Version
Another screensaver features Tubey in animated action, making his cute little way across your monitor in surprising fashion.
Download PC Version | Download Mac Version
Our final screensaver features Tubey hidden in the show-specific artwork that appear at the top of our recaps. Try to spot him before the images change!

If you can't get enough of vampires (and really, who can?), you won't want to miss the Paley Center for Media's discussion of all things fangtastic this Saturday in New York. The panel will focus on the contributions of Buffy, Angel, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and Dark Shadows to the television landscape -- and yes, someone will be there defending Twilight even though it's not a TV show. TWoP's senior editor, Angel Cohn, will be on stage to talk about her undying love for all things True Blood, so if you're feeling bloodthirsty, get your tickets now. Just leave the crosses and stakes at home.
Yesterday the nice gals at AOL TV let me crash their weekly DVR Diva podcast so I could chat with them about all things TV (mostly reality) related. We talked Torchwood, Dating in the Dark, The Bachelorette, Jon & Kate and went through the best and worst moments of reality of the whole year. You can give it a listen here.
The verdict is still out on whether Dollhouse can stand the test of time. We think it oughta, if only because of our sick obsession with all things Joss Whedon. Our very own Zach Oat takes on the task of breaking down each major Dollhouse character and charting his/her traits to come up with other Whedon-made counterparts from Buffy and Firefly. Because, you see, everything is connected in the Whedon-verse. Is Echo 2009's answer to Buffy Summers? You be the judge after consulting with our Dollhouse: Do These Characters Seem Familiar To You? gallery. And by all means, pitch in with your own comparisons. This is a democracy, after all.
Wheeee! It's A-List Awards voting time again! As you might recall from last year, Bravo's one and only award show (known to TWOPpers as the Bravo Prom) is the premiere show in which things I actually care about get nominated and awarded. We're talking categories like Chef Who Does The Awesomest Things With Pork Products (a.k.a. A-List Chef) and -- literally -- A-List Kate, which is described as an award "Given to the Kate with the mostest" featuring nominees from Kate Moss to Katy Perry to Mary-Kate Olsen (yeah I guess they're pretty loose with their acceptance criteria). In sum: Best. Awards. Show. Ever. And as always, it's going to be hosted by everyone's favorite trash-talkin' redhead, Kathy Griffin. This fabulous beeswax will film April 5, but you can cast your vote now if you go to this place here. You've got 'till March 31. Conflicted about who to vote for? After the jump are the categories and nominees, along with my annotated picks. Because I love you.
I admit it: I'm fully stoked about the return of the comparatively civilized ladies of The Real Housewives of New York City. So much so that I've taken to talking like Spicoli from Fast Times At Ridgemont High. And to get myself amped for the premiere of Season Two next week, I pulled the most memorable moments from the first season and got positively teary-eyed remembering their high-falutin' hijinks. To quote Lost Boyz, it's "lifestyles of the rich and shameless," featuring fashion shows, tennis death matches and extreme Speedo close-ups. Soooo elegant! Get the low-down on my picks and let me know your favorite moments with Gotham's moneyed MILFs.
