While we love it when beloved stars get cast in new shows, we're just excited when we discover new favorites. This past year we've gotten some wonderful surprises thanks to the actors and personalities that were never regulars on a TV series before, but are now big stars - at least in our minds. In fact, we really can't believe that until 2009 we didn't even know that the majority of these people even existed. How did we survive?
There's bad news for Lily van der Woodsen: she might be dead! Figuratively, at least. It's complicated. Read on for specifics.
So last night on American Idol Adam Lambert turned a popular Johnny Cash song into a faux Middle Eastern new wave snake-charming chantey, and then the internet exploded. With hatred for Adam Lambert. Which then caused me to explode with hatred for the internet, because Adam Lambert is the best thing that's ever happened to American Idol, and I'll tell you why.
I find today's TWoP News to be very... erotic. Too early to say "sexiest TWoP News ever"? Probably, right?
Awesomeness and un-awesomeness collided in an incredibly unawesome way today. Fortunately, awesomeness won. Awesomeness always wins.
I think so. I hesitate to suggest that Paula Abdul is the mastermind of anything, even something as simple as picking out a song, but the judges' picks last night seem suspect to me. It's crazy that out of all the songs in the world to choose from, Adam got to sing a U2 anthem literally (literally!) everyone on the planet knows backwards and forwards, Kris got to sing one of last year's biggest, most widely played hits, and Gokey got stuck with "Dance Little Sister" by Terence Trent D'Arby -- a forgettable song I've honestly never even heard of. Maybe it's the biggest song in the history of music, I don't know. I do know that I'm a huge music fan and a devout follower of all things pop and I had never heard it before.
I'm an Adam Lambert fan. I'm not even going to try and pretend I'm not. I love his voice, his style and think he just seems like a cool person. That said, I'm also hugely into musical theater and like my pop stars to be overly flamboyant. I was raised in a household with a lot of Queen and David Bowie. But even though Adam made it further than I could have hoped, I just think that it won't be enough to pull him through to take the title of American Idol (which really means nothing anyway, but that's a whole 'nother story). If it had been the predicted Lambert/Gokey showdown, I think Adam might have had a chance, but now that wild card Kris Allen is in the mix, I think that Kris has an excellent chance of going home with the title.
More celebrity drug scandals! We don't usually gossip like this, but when stars actually go to jail, we take notice. Plus, Adam Lambert news!
Gather 'round, I have fantastic news! Heidi Montag's not the only Speidi member with an illustrious recording career anymore!
