After watching not only the first episode of Happy Town (which aired last night) but also the next two, I'm left feeling quite ambivalent about this show. It has a decent cast (Amy Acker, Steven Weber, Sam Neill, M.C. Gainey and Frances Conroy), but considering that it's about a town with a serial killer, I found myself surprisingly bored by the pacing and the plotting.

The March 20th episode of Dollhouse is the fabled sixth episode, the one in which everything supposedly changes and the series really kicks into high gear. Angel has already told us her impressions of it, but now we have a lot of questions about the rest of the season -- luckily, show creator Joss Whedon was standing by to take our conference call, and play defense on a bunch of questions about sex, dolls and Dollhouse Season 4.

The first Lost Season 5 news has arrived by way of Michael Ausiello over at EW, and by the look of their user comments everyone seems pretty excited about it. I'm not so sure, but we'll get to that in a minute. Anyway, Ausiello has on good authority that there will be two whole new bad-asses on the show next season, who will likely extend their stay into Season 6. One is named Caesar, and he's whip smart, kick-ass, charming and mysterious, while the other is Ilana, a "European" (doesn't specify where on the actually pretty diverse continent she's from) lady who has pretty much the exact same description as Caesar does. Casting is now underway, so that news should roll in shortly. Let's hope they don't cast anyone too annoying. I've already got my hands full with Kate still being alive and all.

While I didn't get to Comic Con's Dollhouse panel because the line was totally insane, and while I didn't get a lottery ticket to get to meet Joss Whedon in person, I did get to participate in a conference call with him on Friday, and that was sort of the next best thing. Well, at least I got to watch the first episode in the comfort of my own office, so that's something. The Buffy mastermind dished about his new series, where he's paired up again with Buffy badass Eliza Dushku, which is a twisted tale about a group of men and women (most notable Dushku's Echo) who get programmed to perform tasks by a company and then regularly have their memories wiped. These girls can be anything you want them to be, but will the show be what fans want? Or will it get axed early like Whedon's other Fox series Firefly. Whedon talked about that and much more in his call. Here are the highlights.
