While many shows try to do very special Thanksgiving episodes, most of them degenerate into a muddle of typical family feuding and melodrama. And if we wanted to see disastrous family meals, we would just tune in to Brothers & Sisters on any given week. But every few seasons, at least one great show gives a holiday episode we can be truly thankful for. Here our favorites from the recent and far past:

I would say the round up of news is pretty heavy with drama for a Wednesday. Here we have a spy thriller on the rise, the potential downfall of a marriage, and a conservative housewife turned cougar. Things are looking up to what I thought would be a boring mid-week day.

All of this focus on overweight reality shows -- Biggest Loser, Dance Your Ass Off, More to Love -- has drawn our attention away from the original plus-size primetime stars. You know, the fictional ones? Most of the great TV shows of the modern era have included at least one character from this increasingly sizable segment of society, and nine times out of ten they ended up being our favorite character on the series. Here are ten who float to the top of our favorites list.

Evangeline Lilly had the nerve recently to ask for more money per episode on her Lost contract, even though she makes more than anyone else on the show (except Matthew Fox) and even though her character Kate is by far the most irritating character on that show by a landslide. This prompted me to think back over my years of TV-watching to compile the list of most unduly annoying characters to ever exist on the small screen.

Given its blatant catering to the youth of America, I was always stunned by the WB's use of Michigan J. Frog as their mascot. The (then) 40-year-old cartoon character was most famous for belting out old-timey music like "Hello My Baby" and "The Michigan Rag," and was not at all as well-known as the rest of the Looney Tunes stable... and probably the only one not already licensed out to a T-shirt company, which is likely why Warner Bros. chose him. Of course, since the network's demise in 2005, no one has seen hide nor hair of him, so I'm curious if he'll make a comeback now that The WB has resurfaced as a website, The WB.com, where you can watch all of your favorite WB (and Warner-produced) shows. Somehow I doubt it.

The world has been waiting for the return of Lorelai Gilmore Lauren Graham for what feels like eternity. You all agree she's the best, right? Well, if the reports of her return to TV are true, we might fina-friggin'-lly be getting our wish. Graham is said to be tied to an as-yet untitled ABC sit-com from the Will & Grace scribes (not so good) and produced by Mitch Hurwitz (insanely good) that will follow her tribulations as a life coach-typed person whose own life begins to unravel after a super-rough breakup. Could be a hoot or the worst thing to happen to her since Because I Said So, which made me want to stab my eyes out, re-grow them with the help of stem-cell technology and then stab them out again.
