It's network upfronts week, and what a wonderful time to be alive! All the promise of new shows with great casts and expertly cut trailers, plus all the fun of prematurely mocking shows with dumb plots and even worse CGI (seriously, Once Upon a Time? What is even happening there, ABC?). But what's even better is that we can thank the TV gods for the rare moments when networks get it right and decide to pass on awful-sounding pilots. As with every year, many possible disasters were rejected this season, but these are the ones we're happiest about. (Assuming they don't get "saved" by another network or come back to haunt us next summer, of course.)

Attention all Accidentally on Purpose fans! I mean, fan! Yes, you! Here you go.

It's the middle of the week and people are suddenly popping up in places you might least expect them to.

There are two kinds of people in this world: those who like Jenna Elfman and those who don't. With her Carol Burnett-channeling voice and penchant for physical comedy, I can see how she'd rub certain people the wrong way, but I will admit to enjoying Dharma & Greg when I was finally convinced to watch by my wife. Granted, a strong supporting cast helped that show, but she and Thomas Gibson had sufficient chemistry (or at least enough odd-couple cutesiness) between them to form a solid foundation. The premise was a touch formulaic -- earthy girl with hippie parents marries lawyer dude with blueblood parents -- but it worked, somehow. That said, having seen the first episode of Accidentally on Purpose, I'm not sure if it has the formula, the chemistry or the supporting cast to stick around.

Good afternoon and welcome to your Friday TWOP News: pre-Oscars edition. I'm sure you've all started your second-by-second Oscar countdowns, painstakingly viewed all the Best Documentary Short and Sound Mixing nominees in order place your bets most effectively, and made a shopping excursion to purchase the themed snacks you will begin eating when red carpet coverage starts at approximately 3 AM (Milk Duds, anyone?)...oh wait, that's just me? Hmmm... hmmm. While I wrap my mind around that, go ahead and wrap your minds around these delicious Friday news bites.
