So many new shows today! I use the term "new" quite loosely, but what do you expect? As for casting, we say goodbye to one resident of The Hills, and hello again to a familiar face on House. Oh, and Paula is still around.

Are casting directors, showrunners and network executives purposely trying to conspire to force me to stop watching my favorite shows? Seriously, people. I'm OK with a little bit of stunt casting, but I've about had it up to here (gesturing approximately 12 inches above my head) with the starlets who find more fame on the pages of the tabloids than from doing any actual work, coming onto my favorite shows and mucking things up and then getting a lot of credit when the show gets a ratings boost.

It's a great news day! Pushing Daisies's last episodes finally got an air date, Chuck got a third season pickup and I'm going on The Amazing Race. April Fool's! I know, it isn't nice to toy with people's emotions like that. I feel a little guilty, but that last one is sort of true... just as soon as I can scrape up the cash! Some smart person finally found a way to offer TAR travel excursions to regular people, where you bebop all over Europe and do crazy stunts... for a fee, and sadly without Phil and his eyebrows. Still -- cool, right? Now if we can just work on the networks about making those other two things happen, it really would be a banner day. In other news...

I know I already wrote a whole big post about why Chuck should get a third season, and even Josh Schwartz doesn't know if his show stands a chance in hell at coming back, but after this week's episode, I'm going to be hella pissed off if this show doesn't return next fall. I'm not joking. "Chuck Versus the Colonel" was one of the most enjoyable and well rounded hours of television I've watched in a very long time. It was romantic, funny, had lots of resolution and was filled with explosions. Everything a girl could want, or at least everything this girl could want. If it weren't for the last two minutes, it could have been a finale for the show. Instead, we've got more badass Chevy Chase coming our way next week for an episode that Schwartz claims will not give fans closure they want if it ends up being the series finale. Well, damn. So I'm going to try and think positive, I've got my fingers and toes crossed for renewals, I've started mumbling little prayers in the elevators here at 30 Rock on the off chance that some exec might be listening and take it to a higher power and I'm going to celebrate the time we have left ... however long that is. With that, here were my five favorite moments from Monday's episode.

Surprisingly, even though Idol wasn't on last night, there's a heck of a lot of talk about it today. Not that any of it amounts to much of anything, but hey, it's a slow news day (again), and I'll take what I can get. If that means random Idol speculation from Simon Cowell, so be it. Also, there's some news on that Gossip Girl spinoff that's making this TV nerd pretty happy.

Back eighteen million years ago (aka in June) we reported on the rumors that the whizzes behind Gossip Girl were working on a spin-off. Now it seems they've all but confirmed it's happening, though contrary to initial buzz, the new show will not be using the books' tangential series The It Girl (which follows Jenny Humphrey to boarding school) as its source material. Just as well, cuz that platinum-haired moppet is getting on my very last nerve. No official word on what shape this alleged spin-off will take yet, but I've got some ideas for Josh Schwartz et al.

Before Chuck creators Josh Schwartz, Chris Fedak and the sublimely stunning Yvonne Strahovski headed down to the Comic Con floor to do their panel in front of a room teeming with fans, they spent a few minutes in a much smaller room with a handful of reporters hyping the show and the upcoming episodes. With good reason, based on the flashy trailer for the rest of the season that they presented. It looks pretty much awesome. Even Capt. Awesome will be duly impressed. Lots of guns, girls, spy games and a really awkward situation between Big Mike and Morgan. I'm pretty psyched. While we only had a few minutes with the trio before they were whisked away, here's the intel we were able to ascertain.
