Remakes, Paris Hilton, acts of desperation -- today is the deep dark sludge of TV news.
-
Remakes are all the rage in the news today with talks of a new Saturday Night Fever (take one guess at who's the prime candidate for a new Tony Manero) and a film adaptation of the 1980s series The A-Team. Can't anyone think of new material these days? Even TBS is considering taking up My Name Is Earl. Read on -- it's not all that bad.

At first, the news that ABC would be remaking Charlie's Angels made me roll my eyes in annoyance at yet another remake, as I'm sure it caused most people to do, but after looking closer at the story, I kind of think it could be fun. Josh Friedman, former showrunner of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is writing and executive producing this remake as well, and he's actually a very smart guy, and a good writer, despite Terminator's storytelling missteps. At the very least, he writes women well, and as long he doesn't fall into the traps of turning Charlie's Angels into a character melodrama, as Fox's Terminator budget cuts forced him to on that show, this could be the kick-ass, female-driven, addictive series that Dollhouse was supposed to be, if they're careful, and if they cast it right. I can't write the scripts for them, but I can tell you who has Angel potential and who is Olivia Wilde (for example). Here are our Charlie's Angels casting hopes and dreams.

Judging Strangers, Shows Nobody Cares About Anymore Except Us
After Battlestar Galactica: Ranking The Cast's Career MovesIt's safe to say that Syfy's Battlestar Galactica is one of the best television shows of all time, so it isn't a complete surprise that any role that a veteran of the show takes seems like a downgrade. Still, some of the cast members have fared better than others following the show's end. With one of the key players now starring on fall's much-hyped Hawaii Five-0, we were inspired to rank all of the major actors' post-BSG stints. Who is still flying high and whose career has turned into a pile of space detritus? See our list below, ranked from best to worst.

FlashForward is in a little mini time out, but it's nothing compared to what Fox is putting Fringe through.

The TV gods must have been wheelin' and dealin' all weekend, because there is a ton of news today.

Bionic Woman sucked, let's face it. At the very least it was a massive disappointment, and the only bright spot in it at all was Katee Sackhoff. The BSG/Bionic babe talked to reporters today and when asked if she'd want to participate in the new Children of Men series from BSG/Bionic executive producer David Eick, she was pretty blunt. "Everything that David Eick does interests me. He is fantastic at what he does. He has a vision. He's always successful at that vision. I've always said that the main problem with Bionic Woman was if you get too many cooks in the kitchen, or two many hands in the pot, no one can agree on what they are trying to make, so you have a stew that's full of shit. Whether or not David is given the freedom to do what he's done with Battlestar is a completely different story. I think you'd have to be on a cable network. I don't think you can get that on network television. But I'd follow that man to the ends of the earth." Mmm... stew of shit.

Gods Frakkin' Dammit. Those were the words that literally came out of my mouth when I read the news this morning that Katee Sackhoff was going to be doing four episodes of Nip/Tuck next season. I'm thrilled that Starbuck has another big gig since BSG's coming to an end (though I can't really talk about that... still in denial). However, this news is good for her, but bad for me because now I've got to start watching Nip/Tuck again.

When news broke in May that Katee Sackhoff would be following BSG with a fun (and knowing that show, downright filthy!) guest stint on Nip/Tuck, I could hardly contain my excitement. Since then, thoughts like, "Starbuck as a love interest for Sean? Yes!" "Ooh, I bet Christian'll try to steal her!" "Julia's going to be so jealous! I don't even care that she's a lesbian now!" and so on and so forth have been whirring around in my head almost non-stop. Sadly, that all came to an end today when my Starbuck-guesting-on-Nip/Tuck dreams were dashed against the rocks, and everything about it got really annoying.
