Who better to act as the study group's new rival than Walter Sobchak himself?

We can't help but feel a little bad for Katie Cassidy at the moment. She was the best thing on The CW, and they knew it, so they delayed officially canceling Melrose Place until after pilot season, essentially leaving her trapped on the network until next year's pilot casting rounds. And as such, she'll be guesting on Gossip Girl this fall, playing a love interest for Nate. Great -- we know what a fantastic opportunity that turned out to be for Joanna Garcia last season. Nothing like showing up on an established show past its prime to form an annoying new love triangle (I know he and Serena are done, but I know this show, so I know they are never going to be done) -- just ask Melissa George how awesome it is! So it sucks, and it just made me think of other, possibly worse ways the CW could have stuck it to Ms. Cassidy for (allegedly!) trying to leave the network last spring. You know they at least considered all of these at some point.

Evangeline Lilly has said in the past that she doesn't plan on continuing her acting career after Lost ends, and with the show's final season premiering tonight (!!), that story has resurfaced, and she's sticking to it. Which is perfectly understandable; she's made her money, she's not passionate about acting, and she did the respectable thing by not quitting in the middle of it when she was somehow miserable in Hawaii. (I'm not a Kate fan, but at least she didn't Rob Lowe or Mandy Patinkin the show by throwing a tantrum and leaving prematurely.) So happy trails to Evangeline Lilly after May. These people should really get inspired and do the same.

Happy Monday, all! We're currently snowed in here at TWoP's Manhattan headquarters, even though it's March. LOL, end of the world, I guess! Anyway, if you're trying to forget about the impending apocalypse, read on for a nudie mature TV star, Shannen Doherty's ridiculous new gig, Alexis Bledel's sad new gig, and yes, even more Melissa George hatred. As Diddy used to say, "I thought I told you that we won't stop!"

I have been really surprised by how fast I got addicted to In Treatment. Normally, my administration has had a strict policy against primetime shows that require you to commit to watching on multiple nights a week (American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Big Brother except when I'm getting paid for it), but In Treatment has a couple of advantages: (a) being on HBO; (b) being on during a writers' strike. And it's also pretty good.
One way the show keeps you interested is to have a different patient each night -- because let's face it, you're never equally invested in all the characters on a show. (Many's the time I thought about just fast-forwarding through all the Niki/Jessica scenes on Heroes.) But so far all the patients are pretty compelling. -

Why We're Glad that Melissa George Is Leaving Grey's AnatomyPersonally I've been over here humming the tune of "Ding, Dong, The Witch Is Dead" in my head since I read the news that pseudo-lesbian Sadie was checking out of Seattle Grace after a very short stint on the show. That Ausiello knows how to make a girl happy. OK, well Melissa George probably isn't particularly happy about it (even if it was her choice), but I sure as heck am. I realize I've been biased against her character, long before Hahn's unceremonious ouster and long before she ever showed up looking for her pal "death," because I really don't like Melissa George as an actress. I've held a grudge against her ever since she and her annoying character basically ruined Alias for me. With that in mind, here are the four reasons we're glad that Ms. George chose (if you choose to believe that) to get the hell out of dodge.

I was just feeling warm fuzzy thoughts about Grey's Anatomy. They are bringing on the super, amazing, wonderful, awesome, fantastic, incredible, insanely-talented Mary McDonnell and that makes me so happy. They had a whole episode where people just basically called Meredith on her whining, blabbing, sucking shit. Izzie got a haircut that makes her look fat and kind of ugly. So all was well. I was kinda thinking I might even like this season. Shocking, I know. But then. Then they had to go and cast Melissa George as like a bi-curious intern or something terrible like that. (Scoop credit to my pal Ausiello, aka the bearer of bad news.) This is killing me. I will never be able to think of Melissa George as anything but the girl who took down Alias with her irritating performance as Lauren Reed. She ruined all that was good about that show with her presence alone. This is awful. Making a miserable rainy day even more awful. Mindy agrees [Editor's Note: "I'm a-fumin'!" -- Mindy], and she doesn't even care about Grey's Anatomy.
