Combat Hospital: Really Just Another Shonda Rhimes Show?If you watched the Combat Hospital premiere (or even just saw the promo), you may have had a strange feeling that you were watching the cancelled Shonda Rhimes vehicle Off the Map, except in a war zone. That's because you were! But actually, Combat Hospital isn't a Shonda show at all. But it's got all of the elements, and not just of Off the Map -- we noticed striking similarities to Grey's and Private Practice.

Shonda Rhimes has stepped out of her comfort zone of soapy medical dramas and into the world of politics with her new show Scandal. And while it isn't The West Wing by any means, it's definitely got the addictive qualities that have kept us watching Grey's Anatomy all these years, along with a cast that we might have assembled for our TV Fantasy League (maybe she can find a way to work in Adam Baldwin as a Secret Service agent at some point?). We've seen a few more episodes beyond the pilot, and though the series isn't groundbreaking or landmark television by any means, we're still hooked. Here's why:

Skimming Across the Pond, Very Bad Things, We Should Totally Be TV Execs
How American Showrunners Would Remake Doctor WhoEvery new season of Doctor Who seems to bring with it people mumbling about the prospect of an American Doctor. Now, the Eighth Doctor would probably tell you that letting Americans have anything to do with Doctor Who is a bad idea, but considering the Doctor's significant (and growing) fanbase in the States, we suspect that SyFy or perhaps even Fox would potentially be interested in a remake. But how would they change the series, aside from eliminating the English accent that networks presume American viewers can't possibly comprehend? Here's how we think some of our favorite U.S. showrunners would adapt Who:

Can't They Just Leave Well Enough Alone?, The Biz
Shonda Rhimes' Off the Map: We Already Know What Will HappenThe folks over at ABC have decided to pick up the pilot for another Shonda Rhimes series. That'll be three on the network, if you're counting. And guess which genre it falls into? You'll never figure it out. Oh, wait, you just did: it's a medical drama. Yes, she's just that predictable. This one is called Off the Map and it's reportedly about three doctors who are fed up with their lives and decide to go work in a clinic on a tropical island. Sounds really original and inspired, doesn't it? It definitely does not remind us of when Grey's Anatomy's Addison was fed up with life in Seattle and decided to work at a Private Practice in warm, sunny Los Angeles. Since life is short and DVR space is sadly not infinite, we've decided to do potential viewers a service by revealing what you're likely to see on Rhimes' new show well in advance. Thank us later.
