After five seasons of pitting unknown chefs against each other to see who can make the fewest stupid cooking mistakes, Top Chef is mixing things up and pitting world renowned chefs against each other! Hopefully, there will be a lot fewer stupid mistakes, since by now these people have probably made them all, and we can get down to seeing who is actually a better chef. But we have one problem. Are any of these chefs better than Lafayette from True Blood? Or Ned from Pushing Daisies? We compiled a list of our favorite fictional chefs to see how each would do under the pressures of the Top Chef competition.

This was a hard one. Honestly, we could have probably done a TWoP 20. But the untimely demise of Pushing Daisies got us thinking about the most gut-wrenching cancellations -- the ones that we're still devastated about. And we're not talking about shows that went off the air after a nice long successful run, or shows that the writers opted not to do any more of (like Extras or Battlestar Galactica), these were shows that were unceremoniously ripped out of our hands during the midst of their all-too-brief lifespans. A cruel twist of the TV fates or TPTB who often only recognize ratings and not rare bits of genius in television form, leaving us still wanting more.

I adored Pushing Daisies last season, it was just so cute and clever and charming, but I worried, because I also adored the first season of Ugly Betty and season two got a little dicey and season three's been hit or miss. I'm just delighted that Pushing Daisies (which no one is watching for whatever reason) is still as perfectly precious and adorable as it was and now even more so because the characters have just really come in to their own. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to burst with absolute love for it. I need a hug machine to give me a comforting squeeze after each episode! I was feeling inspired to write poetry about how I adore this show, but I'm really terrible at writing poetry. Instead, I'm just borrowing my title from the Elizabeth Barret Browning sonnet and counting the multiple ways that I am absolutely smitten with this show.

Next month, the Pushing Daisies promotional team will be sending a big ol' bus decorated as Ned's Pie Hole restaurant across the nation to dole out all sorts of presents to Pushing Daisies fans and pie enthusiasts alike. If you're in the right place at the right time, you can drop on in to The Pie Hole-on-wheels and check out memorabilia from the show, sample some delicious pies and even take home some Daisies-branded kitchen utensils! Ahoy! Oh wait, that's for boats. Sorry. Anyway, the Pie Hole will also be decked out with Plasma TVs showing clips from the show, and staffed with quirky Daisies-esque folks galore (actors from the show are allegedly not appearing at any of these, but you know ABC will make at least one of them show up to the Santa Monica event or something.)

So last night's Heroes was the first one penned by Pushing Daisies' Bryan Fuller since Season 1, and while the episode was as strong as the occasionally strong episodes of this volume have been, the thing that really stood out for me was -- whoa, when did this show turn into a quip-a-second quipfest? It was like watching Buffy or something. The dialogue was so much different -- and so much better -- than it usually is, I almost had trouble focusing on the story. Was Season 1 like this? I can't remember, but for now I'm welcoming it as a very positive change. I bet the actors are thrilled to have non-stupid dialogue to say for the first time a long while. Also, Swoosie Kurtz was practically used as an extra, which is just unbelievable. Bryan Fuller is the man. My favorite quotes from last night, in no particular order:
