Because I know you were really stressing out about missing the first episode of Outsourced, don't worry -- it's starting on a specific date and everything.
America just got safer.
Charlie Sheen is not making idle threats, y'all.
The announcement that the upcoming seventh season of The Office will be Steve Carell's last saddened many, but if it made this news possible, then it may be worth it: Amy Ryan will return as Michael Scott's love interest Holly Flax, and she'll play a "sizable role" in the season. Obviously, last season's finale set us up for this, but we're still psyched. In fact, it got us thinking about other people and things Michael needs to revisit before he makes his exit. Here's a list of seven biggies.
There are rumors swirling that Steve Carell will leave The Office after the 2010 season. Apparently the allure of doing quality films like Date Night is just too tempting for him. Whether or not he actually leaves Dunder Mifflin probably comes down to contract negotiations, but if Michael Scott does depart Scranton, we've identified some folks that would be well-qualified to serve as the new office manager.
There are so many TV-related changes today! Well, the main "changes" are rumors, but still -- they're really big rumors!
Exciting Office news came down the pike last week, when it was announced that Will Ferrell will guest star on the show towards the end of this season, to aid with Michael Scott's exit in some yet-to-be-revealed way. Not being satisfied with the enormity of that news and taking a cue from NBC's press release, some people started trumping it up as an Anchorman reunion. Which is a little silly considering that just about any two male comedic actors doing anything together would probably constitute an Anchorman reunion, and that Steve Carell had a pretty small role -- albeit a memorable and awesome one -- in Anchorman. Which got us thinking about all the stuntcasting possibilities that could spawn even less warranted epic reunion claims.
Say goodbye to Michael Scott!
As you might have deduced, we here at TWOP are borderline obsessed with The Office and thus deem any and all newsy tidbits related to the show worthy of posts. So forgive me for being so effing stoked about the following Office nuggets:
1) Steve "Awesomer Than Jesus" Carrell has inked a deal that commits him to three more years as the fantastic Michael Scott. Rejoice, mother effers!
2) A clip from an upcoming Office teaser webisode, which will air July 10th, has leaked online. It features Kevin making a bumbling attempt to get a bank loan for an ice cream company whose strategy seems to be buying other ice cream, giving the flavors funny names and reselling it. [Via Videogum]
That is all. Carry on.
