You guys prolly saw Tina Fey's rad Golden Globes acceptance speech Sunday night in which she called out internet haters by name. (You didn't? Well let me just embed that clip for you then, mkah?)

They say it's an honor just to be nominated, but we all know that's not true. So while we're thrilled that TWoP has once again been selected as one of the five best entertainment blogs by the Bloggies, a.k.a. the Weblog Awards, we're also selfish enough to want to win this sucker for the second consecutive year. And unlike the Oscars, Emmys and Golden Globes, whose prizes are closed to public influence, the Bloggies want real people to pick their favorites -- go figure. TWoP is up against some stiff competition from Best Week Ever, TVgasm, /film and Vulture, so we can use all the help we can get. If you dig what we do (and hey, why else are you even reading this?) and have a few minutes to spare, consider casting a vote for us at the official Bloggies site. There are plenty of great blogs from around the world nominated in a slew of other categories, so show them a little love while you're in the neighborhood, too. Voting closes on Monday, February 2.

When not busy writing about Big Brother, 24 and a host of other shows for us here at TWoP, M. Giant (aka Jeff Alexander) apparently found a way to use his vast knowledge of television for good instead of evil. He's penned a must-have guide for television junkies called A TV Guide to Life: How I Learned Everything I Needed to Know from Watching Television. It is in stores now (and available at amazon.com) and if you enjoy his recaps, you'll love his thoughts on life via the boob tube.

We are extremely pleased to report that it appears that we have our mailing lists back up and running. We know this has been a long wait, and we appreciate your patience. If you're not familiar with the mailing lists, this is a way for you to receive an email alert when a recap or weecap from a show you're interested in is posted. You don't get alerts for recaplets, and it's not all or nothing -- you can just pick which shows you want to be informed about. The mailing lists were widely used in their previous incarnation, and we're happy to be able to bring them back. That's the good news.
The less good news is that it's hard to tell how complete the import of the old mailing lists was, so our advice to you is to go and check your subscriptions at the mailing lists page. You may or may not find that you're signed up for all the lists you want, and some shows are new since the last time the functionality worked, so by all means, take the opportunity to check on your subscriptions and make sure that you're signed up for what you want to be signed up for. We sense that the imported lists we've got now is as good as it's going to get, so rather than having everybody report whether you do or don't find yourself missing from lists, just...start from scratch and sign up again.
In other words: mailing lists are open; it's a new day. So get yourself on the lists you want, and we hope it all goes swimmingly from here.
