Today's news may not be Earth-shattering, but it's better than getting a Lyle Lovett haircut or rapping "Ice Ice Baby" on national television.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour, The CW honcho Dawn Ostroff recently told reporters that they were considering remaking more classic shows. Well, given how terrible 90210 and the one episode of Melrose Place I've seen are, that seems like a horrible idea. Still, if they're going to go ahead with this, there are plenty of short-lived or underrated shows from the great (and greatly missed) WB network that could make The CW much better than it's been in its short history, and they can do it without ruining our somewhat fond memories of shows like Dawson's, Everwood or Gilmore Girls.

I've got some good news for people who hate Brothers and Sisters!

First off, the title of this show and the stupid, sanitized way they have to spell it in order to get it on the air aggravates me to no end. Not to mention that my spell check just hates it. Additionally, even the commercials can't say the name of this show. If you can't use the title in polite conversation, then this is not the title of a show that should be aired on network television. Either change it to "Stuff," or don't make the show at all. Maybe the latter one would have been a wise decision.

So... William Shatner has another talk show, and it's kind of the next logical step after Shatner's Raw Nerve. On that show, he talked to various iconic entertainment figures -- Judge Judy, Jenna Jameson, Rush Limbaugh -- while this show moves into the realm of general newsmakers, specifically those embroiled in some sort of controversy. In the first episode, which aired last night, he interviewed Bernard Goetz, the New Yorker who shot four teenagers on the subway in 1984, claiming that they were trying to mug him, and it was a fascinating show to watch -- partly because Goetz was incredibly candid about the events, but also because Shatner was awe-struck the entire episode. I personally prefer a taken aback Shatner to a cocky, confident know-it-all Shatner, so it was fun to see him just sit there with his mouth open.
