Today in news: Bobby Cannavale is joining Nurse Jackie basically full-time, In Plain Sight gets the axe, and Benjamin Bratt is coming back to visit the Pritchett-Dunphy clan.
Bobby Cannavale has joined Nurse Jackie for 10 (10!) episodes this upcoming season. Yay! We love him. Nurse Jackie really does have one of the best casts on TV at this point.
The upcoming fifth season of In Plain Sight will be its last. Good for the show for bowing out (somewhat) gracefully -- it was clearly losing steam. (House, Glee, everyone else ever -- take note.)
Benjamin Bratt will return to Modern Family. Get your earplugs. Lots of Sofia Vergara screaming to follow. "Jaaaaaay!" "Jaaavieeer!" Ugh.
Kurt Sutter went on another Twitter rant, this time about AMC and Mad Men showrunner Matthew Weiner's roles in Frank Darabont's departure. He began: "why darabont got fired -- weiner. he held AMC hostage, broke their bank, budgets were slashed, s-- rolled down hill onto Gilligan and Frank." The rant goes on for a while, but he finished with "This is not me vs. Matt. the issue is that amc should not have compromised their other shows to appease his $$ demands. it was bad business." Meanwhile, at The Walking Dead, AMC execs are meeting with cast and crew -- presumably to regroup -- and a source says Darabont is shopping a new hour-long drama series. Would be great to have Darabont return to TV.
A farewell speech by Coach Taylor that was cut out of the Friday Night Lights finale can now be heard online. As if we didn't cry over that hour of television enough already. It's beautiful, of course. Go get your tissues.
Conan on Lopez Tonight's cancellation: "Had it not been for George being so incredibly supportive of me, I would not have come to TBS and we would be not doing this show. I owe that man a lot and frankly it makes me really sad that TBS and George could not work this out." Well, I guess if anyone knows how George Lopez feels right now, it's Conan.
