Yay for good casting: Jimmy Smits, NYPD Blue's Bobby Simone, is joining the cast of Sons of Anarchy this year for a major, season-long arc. He'll reportedly be playing a Latino gangbanger and extremely bad influence on Jax. Almost makes us feel nostalgic enough to watch Dexter. Almost, I said.
Today Show anchor Matt Lauer has signed on to stay with the series for a while longer, squashing those pesky Ryan Seacrest rumors. Go back to your 30 other jobs, pretty boy!
Mark Burnett and Law & Order's Dick Wolf are making a reality series in which nine celebrities will face off by competing in various military-themed challenges in order to raise money for charities for the troops. Tentatively called Stars Earn Stripes, the only way this show could sound more American is if all of the celebrities were morbidly obese.
As a vegetarian who was raised in a kosher home, I cannot fathom the appeal of this bacon reality show currently in development... but considering I actively watch The Pauly D Project and love Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson, I'm clearly not in any position to make fun of anyone's taste in TV or breakfast meats.
