Everyone can go back to their regularly scheduled lives now -- American Idol has finally announced next season's newest judge.

Mariah Carey will join American Idol as a judge in the wake of Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez's departures. Mariah said that she joined the show because of her close relationship with her co-manager Randy Jackson... or, you know, maybe that multimillion-dollar paycheck. Either way.

In news that may make Glee fans everywhere fail to remember why they keep watching this show, it was announced that the world's most unnecessary character Sugar will be back for Season 4 of the show. After Glee Project winner Damian McGinty was dumped, we were kind of hoping that his love interest Sugar would be following him back to Ireland, though in an ideal world we'd really like to forget her character ever existed.

In somewhat better Glee news, Chord Overstreet will be returning to Season 4 as a series regular. We're just hoping that his whole annoying "Sam-cedes" romantic storyline doesn't follow him into his senior year.

Nick/Jess shippers will have to hold out for a romance between the two roommates -- New Girl's Jess is getting a new love interest. Bent's David Walton will play a "classic bad boy type" who Jess falls for in the premiere episode. If we had to guess, Jess woos him with her awkward charm before making a completely "adorkable" fool out of herself and ruining everything. Hey, come on, Jess isn't bad at relationships, it's just that she's so darn quirky!

If you've been looking forward to the new comedy Animal Practice (we couldn't read that with a straight face either) then you may be able to see that and more new shows a bit earlier than expected. NBC will preview some of their series via various platforms before the official premiere date. All of the network's new fall shows will get a preview period on various sites like Hulu, iTunes, and Amazon for two weeks before their official air date.

HBO has just picked up a pilot from Stephen Merchant entitled Hello Ladies, about an awkward Englishman (Merchant) who tries to woo his way into the hearts of glamorous women in Los Angeles. Spoiler: It doesn't work.

MTV is bringing back a new version of House of Style. No word on who will be hosting yet, but we'll be happy as long as it isn't JWoWW.

After the mild success of Single Ladies, VH1 has decided to take another shot at scripted television. The network has picked up Bounce, a series that focuses on a professional basketball dance team, The Los Angeles Devil Girls (hmm... sounds vaguely familiar...) and the drama that goes on off the basketball court. Hopefully this dance-centric series will be way less weird than Bunheads, but we're thinking that won't be too difficult of a challenge to rise to.
