The The Big C gets a short send-off before joining the other cancelled Showtime shows in the television grave.
Showtime's The Big C will end after a shortened Season 4 of only four episodes. While it's great that the series will get a bit more time to recapture the quality TV that was its first two seasons, we're just hoping that it doesn't have as lackluster a series finale as the once-brilliant United States of Tara did.
Ron Howard is joining forces with Showtime on the new Aztec drama Conquest. Howard will be a director on the series, which tells the story of Spanish Conquistador Hernan Cortes and his clash with Moctezuma II. We're sensing a Spartacus: Mexico Edition vibe...
Showtime has renewed the docu-series Inside Comedy for another season. Jim Carrey is one of the comedians who will be interviewed in the upcoming batch of episodes, which means we may finally hear an apology for the crime against comedy that was Yes Man.
While all of the rumors circulating about the judges for next season of American Idol are providing more entertainment than the show has in recent years, the conversation may be coming to a close. The latest celebrities picked to potentially join the judging table are Nick Jonas and Pharrell Williams. While we kinda could see Pharrell as a judge after being on the producer and artist side of the industry, Nick Jonas' has moved into the Broadway world and hasn't recorded anything significant in years... what, were the One Direction guys not available?
Melanie Griffith is currently in talks to join the cast of Raising Hope as Sabrina's mother, which would be more than enough to make Sabrina very insecure.
Bones creator Hart Hanson's new pilot Backstrom has been picked up by CBS. The show is about a self-destructive detective who has been described as the detective version of Dr. Gregory House, only in this case people probably have a good reason to lie to him. We're sure that this one will stand out amongst the billions of detective shows on the air just like Bones spin-off The Finder did. You know, before it got cancelled after one season.
You all can rest easy now -- WE tv is renewing Joan & Melissa. When Joan Rivers heard that WE tv was picking up her show for another season, she looked surprised... but then again, she's looked surprised for fifteen years so it's hard to tell. WE tv also announced that Braxton Family Values will be getting a spin-off called Tamar & Vince which will focus on Tamar Braxton's "pop music career" which we're completely sure will take off someday.
