Why is this man smiling? Because he just quit The X Factor!
Horrified at the prospect of having to spend another season pretending to find Britney Spears and Demi Lovato interesting, L.A. Reid has announced that he will not be back for Season 3 of The X Factor. You know what this means... another chance for a Paula Abdul comeback!
We always thought Justin Bieber was a joke and now we're sure of it. The singer is teaming up with ABC to develop a sitcom based on his own life... before the fame, fortune and dating Disney Channel starlets. The series will follow a musical prodigy with a bad haircut who is raised by his mother and grandparents and posts videos of himself singing to YouTube. The only way this could be any worse better is if Bieber took a page from Chelsea Handler and appeared on the autobiographical show... as a completely different character.
Former Saturday Night Live utility player Abby Elliott follows up her 2 Broke Girls guest spot with an appearance on Happy Endings alongside fellow SNL refugee, Casey Wilson. Elliott will play the rare girl who makes Max want to try his hand at heterosexual dating... mainly because she has ready access to great seats at Bulls games.
AMC continues to prepare for the impending departure of Breaking Bad and Mad Men by ordering a 10-episode season of Low Winter Sun, an Americanized adaptation of a British cops-and-criminals miniseries. Anything that could potentially kill The Killing off for good is okay by us.
In other AMC news, the network announced that they will be re-airing early episodes of The Walking Dead on Thursday nights at 6:30 PM starting February 14. (Because nothing says Valentine's Day like zombies!) But here's the twist -- these episodes will air in Night of the Living Dead-style black-and-white versions. Forget the eternal debate between slow and fast zombies -- what's scarier, a black-and-white zombie or one in full color?
The Mindy Project has been shedding cast members of late, but now they're apparently back in hiring mode. Beth Grant, who already appears in a recurring role as nasty Nurse Beverly, has been promoted to series regular. Great! Now they just need to hire new writers, change the setting and get rid of the rest of the cast (minus Mindy and Chris Messina) and the show will be completely fixed!
