It's (almost) the end of Chuck as we know it, and we feel fine.
Chuck: The Complete Fourth Season
The penultimate season of NBC's beloved, but perpetually low-rated action/comedy series found the titular super-geek turned super-spy (played by Zachary Levi) pursuing his missing Mom (Linda Hamilton) around the world. Meanwhile, Chuck finally decides to take the plunge and propose to his longtime crush Sarah Walker (Yvonne Strahovski), who promises to love him, dorkiness and all. Former James Bond Timothy Dalton also stops by for a recurring role and Olivia Munn, Summer Glau and Stacy Keibler all cameo as Buy More's resident undercover CIA agent, Greta.
Extras: A gag reel, deleted scenes, two featurettes (including one that follows Levi as he makes his directorial debut on the series) and a bonus short film in which Nerd Herders Jeff (Scott Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay) search for an all-important video game.
Jem and the Holograms: The Truly Outrageous Complete Series
If you grew up in the '80s, chances are that you know the theme song to this irresistibly cheesy animated series by heart. (Here, we'll get you started: "Jem.. Jem is truly outrageous...") By day, Jerrica Benton is the proprietor of a foster care program for young girls. By night, she transforms into a pink-haired rock goddess courtesy of a holographic computer named Synergy and belts out synth-heavy tunes with titles like "Can't Get My Love Together" and "Love's Not Easy." For reasons that are never entirely made clear, Jerrica can't let the world discover her true identity, which becomes a plot point in waaay too many episodes. Meanwhile, Jem as her own problems, such as constantly having to face off against rival rockers like the Misfits and the Stingers. (Personally, we were always rooting for those Misfits.) The entire 65-episode, three-year run is collected on this 11-disc box set from the good folks at Shout! Factory. Show it to your kids and tell 'em this is what Hannah Montana will look like in about twenty years.
Extras: The set boasts a specially-designed pink box and "archival material rarely seen by fans."
Doctor Who: The David Tennant Years
The most popular Doctor since Tom Baker, David Tennant's five-year stint as the title character on the BBC sci-fi serial Doctor Who helped cement the franchise comeback that began with Christopher Eccleston's short-lived (but well-received) turn. Over the course of three series and several specials, Tennant faced off against the Daleks, the Master, the Weeping Angels and his own feelings for his old companion, Rose. The Tenth Doctor was so well-liked that when he finally "died," we really felt his passing. Much as we've grown to like Matt Smith, Tennant's performance will be the one every Doctor going forward will have to struggle to live up to.
Extras: All of the bonus features that appear here -- which include commentary tracks, featurettes, deleted scenes and video diaries -- have been ported over from earlier editions. So if you already own those versions, the only reason to upgrade would be if you wanted to save on shelf space. On the other hand, if you're a Doctor Who fan that doesn't own any of Tennant's run, buying this is a no-brainer.
Also on DVD: Bones: The Complete Sixth Season finds stars David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel bickering and flirting their way through yet another year of poking at decayed corpses for clues. Hey, here's a macabre though: maybe some of those bones belonged to the boy that died and became Casper The Friendly Ghost: The Complete Collection! This two-disc set contains a plethora of Casper cartoons, from the character's 55 theatrical shorts to all 26 episodes from the 1963 TV series The New Casper Cartoon Show.
