TWoP 10: Luckiest Characters on TV

In the spirit of the upcoming St. Patrick's Day, we got to thinking about some of the characters on television who seem to have all of the luck. In some of these cases, we're baffled by just how these people keep having wonderful things to happen to them. Maybe they have the luck of the Irish, have a leprechaun hidden in their closet or have sold their souls to the Devil... Yes, maybe we're just a touch jealous, too.

TWoP 10: Why American Idol Is Surprisingly Good This Season

We admit that we were more than a little skeptical when we heard that Simon was leaving American Idol and that they'd ousted all of the other judges besides the typically useless Randy Jackson. And we were still skeptical after the first couple of audition episodes in which Steven Tyler was just talking crazy and Jennifer Lopez refused to be mean. But since the first Hollywood week, this season has completely turned around, and instead of hoping that it would fade away after this year, we're totally enjoying it. Well, as much as we can enjoy a glorified karaoke competition. Here's why Idol is now better than it's been in ages:

TWoP 10: Actors Who Should Return to Their Shows

The internet recently went wild with the news that Michael Rosenbaum (a.k.a. Lex Luthor) would be returning to Smallville for the season finale. Now, for the first time in years, we're genuinely excited about an episode of that show. So with that in mind, we got to thinking about some other actors and actresses who we wish would find their way back to their former series for at least a guest appearance, even if they've already moved on to new roles.

TWoP 10: Worst Couples on TV Now

It's nearly Valentine's Day and while we could delight in recalling the romantic TV couples that made us swoon in the past, or list the cute almost-couples we want to have hook up now, we've opted instead to focus on current pairings who just have no business at all being together. Perhaps we've just got cold black hearts, but we'd love to see these folks split up for everyone's sake, especially viewers like us.

TWoP 10: Most Pleasant Emmy Nomination Surprises

Sure, there were a lot of quality performances and shows overlooked during this year's Emmy nominations -- from the lack of acknowledgment for anything related to Community or Sons of Anarchy to the scarcely few nominations for Parks and Recreation. And we're still scratching our heads as to how Tony Shalhoub got another nom. But with that said, there were plenty of pleasant surprises that we're genuinely excited about.

TWoP 10: TV Apologies We Want to See

This week on TV, famous people felt the need to apologize publicly: Ellen DeGeneres apologized to Apple for making fun of the iPhone (like Apple should really be worried what a comedienne says about a product that has taken over the world) and Elisabeth Hasselbeck said sorry to Erin Andrews for basically saying that she's asking for more stalkers with her skimpy Dancing With the Stars outfits. While we're sort of over all of this recent mea culpa stuff in front of cameras (Tiger Woods, we blame you), there are a few more apologies that we think are in order. Maybe Ellen can start with telling us how sorry she is for joining Idol but then contributing nothing of value, and then move on the following:

TWoP 10: Replacements for Steve Carell on The Office

TWoP 10: Replacements for Steve Carell on The Office

There are rumors swirling that Steve Carell will leave The Office after the 2010 season. Apparently the allure of doing quality films like Date Night is just too tempting for him. Whether or not he actually leaves Dunder Mifflin probably comes down to contract negotiations, but if Michael Scott does depart Scranton, we've identified some folks that would be well-qualified to serve as the new office manager.

TWoP 10: Comic Books That Should Be TV Series

TWoP 10: Comic Books That Should Be TV Series

Somebody in Hollywood has been eating brains. That was our first thought when we heard that Robert Kirkman's epic "surviving a zombie apocalypse" comic book series The Walking Dead was close to being developed as a television series by AMC. Add that to the fact that the Vertigo title Fables, about storybook characters living in New York, is in development at ABC, and it almost kinda looks like a trend. We started thinking about other comic book series that we'd like to see on the small screen, and were able to come up with ten off the top of our heads that barely even touch on the tights-and-capes crowd.

TWoP 10: Off-the-Beaten-Path Shows We Love

There are a million TV channels out there these days, so when summertime comes around, we really have time to explore the vast world of random television programming. While we dig big shows like True Blood and So You Think You Can Dance, it's the more quirky, niche shows that really have us hooked this season, even if their names may garner blank stares from most folks when when we mention them. Below are some shows that may be off your radar but are worth checking out.

TWoP 10: Shows That Deserve a Movie More than CSI

TWoP 10: Shows That Deserve a Movie More than CSI

They are making a CSI movie? Really? That sounds... boring and unnecessary. What could possibly unfold in a CSI movie that couldn't be contained in a regular episode? We didn't even enjoy The X-Files movie and we liked that show. While we'd love to see a Veronica Mars or Buffy or Deadwood movie... or that long promised Arrested Development movie, we've narrowed our list down to ten other shows that are currently on (or aired this season) that could be better on the big screen than CSI.
