Back at the hotel, James asks the other dudes if he can talk to Drew, and everyone else scatters. James says he wants his perspective on what happened last night, and Drew says, "I don't think that in any way, shape or form it's appropriate to have a conversation about things that you expect to happen outside of this," so it's going to be one of those conversations where people talk in a way that humans don't talk. Oh, he's talking about how James shouldn't have been speaking about what might happen outside of The Bachelorette. I think I get it now.
James is vacillating between "I didn't say that" and "I don't think it's a bad thing that I said that," and then Drew and James yell at each other and it's boring to watch, and it's amazing that James comes off less annoying than Drew, but here we are.
After the commercial, the other guys are having a meeting about the James situation, it appears. Michael says they all care about Desiree and they want to protect her from someone as "toxic" and "evil and sinister" as James. I wish I were exaggerating the words that he used, but he said "evil" and "sinister."
Then James joins them, and everyone gets quiet. Zak breaks the tension by talking about how awesome his date was, and the rest of them pretend like they give a shit, and then Desiree shows up and asks to talk to James for a moment, since they left some things unresolved. Michael says that when James left with Desiree, he didn't think James would be coming back. Of course, that's not the first time these idiots thought James was done.
Desiree, for her part, is talking tough, since she apparently doesn't think she can trust James. But letting him go is tough "because we have something." But YOU DON'T TRUST HIM. SHUT UP, DESIREE. Yep! Sympathy gone.
They go outside and hit their marks on some picturesque steps and James says he's feeling better today, and he apologizes, saying he's had a hard time, but now he feels comfortable being here. He says his conversation was about scenarios, like what if Mikey was Des's husband? Or if James was Des's husband? It's a load of bullshit, but Desiree says James is "so sincere" in everything James says. She's "only hearing the sweetness" in everything James says.
Back at the hotel, the other guys are talking about how James is a salesman, and Kasey says James "can sell ice to an Eskimo." And James and Desiree are still talking. I can't believe there's half-an-hour left of this! Oh, now Desiree is crying. Shut up, Desiree's tear ducts. She whines about what a good time they had on their date, and James tap-dances and says he's confident that she won't let what was said about him affect her decision at the Rose Ceremony tonight. She needs more time to think about what to do about James and his sweat-stained shirt, and she says she almost resents the other guys for putting this on her.
